Lyrics for Lost In The Plot as interpreted by geekusa

Lost In The Plot Lyrics
Take me for a drive to the coastline
Pull me to the depths of the sea
Leave me in the middle of the ocean
I can walk the rest of the way
But I promise not to cry anymore
Although reasons beat the crap out of me
Everyday when I wake up
They are waiting
But I promise not to cry anymore
'Cos it's the same old plot to these things
Oh it's the same old plot to these things
Oh it's the same old plot to these things
Oh it's the same old

Our love
Don't mess with our love
Our love
Is so much stronger
Our love
Don't mess with our love
Our love
Is so much stronger
Our love
Don't mess with our love
Our love
Is so much stronger
Our love
Don't mess with our love
Our love
Is so much stronger
Our love
Don't mess with our love
Our love
Is so much stronger

Oh it's the same old plot to these things
Oh it's the same old plot to these things
Oh it's the same old plot
Same old plot
Same old plot to these things

Oh I promise not to cry
Oh I promise not to cry
Oh I promise not to cry
Anymore

"I promise not to cry, anymore...."

"'Cause it's the SAME olllllldddd plot to theeeeeese thinnnnnnngs...."

Another reason to love Canada, the coolest country.
TerroristCakes, I dont see how it sounds like Moz at all vox wise, but I certainly agree with the overall sound resembling something the Smiths would roll out. [and Smiths are my favorite

I had this stuck in my head, and I was convinced it was a Smiths song, but I was freaking out, because I went through every Smiths song I knew (which is 99% of them), and I couldn't figure it out. I am a bad Smiths fan, or it sounds just like Morrissey. Or both.

MASSIVE LOL to the person that thought they were from Britain...they're from Montreal in Canada and have been around for a while but always stayed in the downlow. You guys should listen to their previous albums which are also really good. And the new one of course which is just super brilliant. Can't wait to see them live again. They were asked by Morrissey to open for him i think it was in the UK somewhere. Anyway, this song rocks especially "our love, don't mess with our love" but also the beginning of the song which starts with an amazing imagery "take me for a drive to the coastline".

Yeah...Murray totally sounds like Morrissey in this song. It's uncanny!

I love the feel of this song...it's a bit creepy and then it launches into the "Our love, don't mess with our love" part and everything feels so calm. Great tune, great tune.

"It's the same old plot to these things"

To me, this is a lament on the way things always go to shit. Perhaps I'm projecting here ;)

At first, I thought the line said "It's the same old cutlery stains" haha

For me this song is about someone trying to convince himself and maybe his partner, that Their love is true, special and will last, even though most love stories follows the plot aka. ends in misery. I came to this conclusion partly because of the title and partly because the song is divided into two so different parts, one upbeat (Our love is so much stronger...) and one bored/depressed (Same old plot to these things...). When we walk into a relationsship we know it will likely end in pain, yet we hope and make up illusions. For me this is what the song is about. Great song no matter what the words means exactly.

The first time I heard this song, I actually thought Murray was Morrissey, since their voices sound so alike.
I think the person has just gone through something with someone close to him (like a breakup, possibly), and he feels like it happens the same way as every other time. He's difficult, and has just given up or something, because "it's the same old plot to these things". It just keeps happening the same way, and he just doesn't want this to be messed up.

my general impression of this song, is that the singer/protagonist seems to be morose and maybe difficult to be with, but beneath his negative exterior, he is very secure in how he feels about the other person.

I keep thinking it as a The Killers' version of Why don't You find Out for Yourself, dunno why.

I definitely got that feeling as if i was listening to a Morrissey song, if you've seen the video and any Smiths/Morrissey videos you might even see that his... "presence" (sp?) is similar to that of Moz as well... all he needed was the gladiolas in his back pocket..

i actually don't care for the whole crying thing, the thing that got me was that "it's the same old plot to these things", the monotony of life; also i liked the first four lines.
