senseless it DOESN'T say "maybe someday you'll have woke up" it says "maybe someday you'll look up".And I'm pretty sure she says "even though I'm the secrifice.

queenbabe,I was looking for songs to download once and I came across one that said Evanescence feat. Within Temptation "Restless" so I downloaded it but it was just Within Temptation singing it :-(

For me, this song has much feeling behind it. Everyone at some point in their lives feels like they could just disappear and that no one would notice. But this song is much deeper than that. I think it's some sort of personal reflection of someone that she loves, (friend, boyfriend, lover, im really not sure) who she is convinced does not care about her at all. Knowing this bothers her, and it obviously is the reason why she "won't be home again", which alludes to her suicide. The "Please, please forgive me" could be alluded to the fact that she knows that suicide would be selfish on her part, but she believes it is the only way for her to end her misery. My favorite part of the song is "and if i bleed, I'll bleed, knowing you don't care", it just basically spells out the theme of the song.

no, sadly there is no song called, I hate everything about you. i think someone thought it wa their song but the lyrics are from the song "i hate everything about you (why do I love you?) by Three Days Grace, i know that cuz I have the single of I hate everything about you. Awesome song, I'd love Ev to do a cover of it. I dunno why it's listed as an Ev song in some places though?

Is it just me, or does this seem like a prelude to "Exodus"?(If you know the song..) I think this song is about a boy or girl wanting to run away because she feels unloved, that everyone that she loves doesn't love her back. So that person decides that they must leave to find themself, and this person thinks that nobody will miss him/her. But deep inside, that person knows that they will care, but they just don't want to believe that.

I think this song is about someone thinking what would the world have been like without her. I think this girl is sitting down with a razor blade resting on her wrist, thinking whether or not to cut, whether or not to cut so deep that it becomes fatal. And whether her absence will affect the people around her, whether anyone will miss her and notice that she is no longer alive.
I can really relate to this song, even though I'm not the one to sit with a razor blade in my hand, but I have wondered so many times what would life be like for others if I was no longer there, whether anyone would even notice me not being there...

i love this song and evanescence because a lot of their slow ballads are abstract enough that you can take the song and find your own meaning in it. like it really connects to people in different ways because it reminds them of what they're going through at the time, even though there is a kind of theme to it: not being missed nor loved. anyways what i connected to is that people abandon you, be it friends, boyfriend, whatever even though you sacrificed so much for them. that's just my take on it though. i think amy has her own meaning to it too probably

i think this song iis maybe like a suicide note from a girl who was neglated form her family. like the start :

this bit is about the mum or dad notcing their child gone but not really knowing that they are thinking of the girl. they just no that somethings not right.

this is one of my fav ev songs..it is awsome....thye lyrics are awome the band is amazing and as always amy's voice delivers teh lyrics in such a powerful wa..to e this song does have somebasis of a eralationship...its like she's leaving him becasue he has neglected her but she noes that someday he will wake up and se that she is gone and she hopes taht someday he will start to miss her...but hey the suicde take on it is also great...it makes a lot of sense so good job dead i am...i enjoyed reading your comment...

I agree with a lot of comments. This song basically talks about loving someone and not being loved in returned .. and not only that, but not even being noticed. I wonder when she talks about leaving if she means suicide .. and then when she dies maybe people will notice her and realize that she meant so much to them.

this song is how i feel atm, though i am a guy i feel like im in her shoes.... same problem =(

Well, it may be that I'm off my rocker completely since I seem to be the only person to have gotten this from the song, but here goes...

First, let me preface by saying that I understand perfectly that Evanescence isn't a Christian band. Now you can't flame me for that :). Here are my thoughts:


If you've seen the movie "Passion of the Christ" then you've seen Jesus as a man, not just a divine figure. It seems to me that this song is at least in part based around that concept, though not from the movie I'm sure.

This reminds me of the Garden of Gethsemane where he begs forgivness but also like he's saying goodbye to everyone, his Mother perhaps.

Calling out to people who don't believe, maybe? Saying that "Hey, you realize something is missing from your life. Here I am..."

Same this as above. He knows that there are those who've forgotten him and his humanity wonders if they even miss him.

See the word "Sacrifice" is what most makes me think of this. He died for our salvation and all he wants in return is our love but he feels alone because of those who refuse to believe and those who betrayed him.

This implies the omnipitence of God. He sees everything we do.

He bled on the cross knowing that he was abandoned by so many and he's calling out for someone to believe in him.



So, that's just what hit me. Any other thoughts?

This song i can completly relate to. She feels as though shes underapperciated and all she wants is to be loved and he cant see her, he doesnt even care he completly takes her for granted thats shes there and if she ran away and died she doenst even feel he would notice.sad song yet i cant stop re-playing it

this song is profoundly beautiful, it makes me think that she's like really in love with some guy, but he doesn't love her back , and she knows that if she just suddenly disappeared from his life he wouldn't really notice and if he did, he wouldn't really care...
as for the whole passion of the christ thing octoberveil was talking about, i can see how you relate this song to the movie

The Christ comparison can be drawn from certain aspects of the song. It seems to comeacroos more like an individuals contemplation and introspection after they've committed suicide , and they're waiting for death to come. Sort of like they want forgiveness for whast those left behind are gonna go through as a resukt of their actions, not to mention this person's sorrow for feeling that there was no recourse.

I'm sorry, but parts of the song really just don't seem Christ-inspired to me. So I'm going to have to go with the lost lover interpretation. Feel free to come to your own conclusions, though =].
