Well there's far too many questions to ask
To answer all of them tonight
For I wear, too many masks
To tell if any of them are wrong or right
And confusion casts a shadow upon me
Like a great big cloud in the sky
And now I pray for rain
'Cause it's been so long since I let myself cry

For so long, I've sang this sad ole song
And it feels like my time is up
For she came and landed in my arms
And she filled my half empty cup
Yes she filled my half empty cup

There you are
Right in front of me
A brand new day
Sunrise over sea
No longer
My cup half empty
'Cause there you are
You and your mum in front of me
In front of me

And now I look up above me
And I thank that great old God in the sky
For telling me my cup ain't half empty
I took my little girl to show me why

For so long, I've sang this sad ole song
And it feels like my time is up
For she came and landed in my arms
And she filled my half empty cup
Yes she filled my half empty cup

There you are
Right in front of me
A brand new day
Sunrise over sea
No longer
My cup half empty
'Cause there you are
You and your mum in front of me

Your peaches and cream to me
You both are peaches and cream to me

Peaches and cream to me
You and your mum in front of me

Your peaches and a cream oh

Yeah I, love you
All I know is
All I know that I
I Love you
That I love you
All I know is
All I know
And I love you
Yeah I, love you, yeah

i reckon this song is about his daughter coz in this song you can hear a little girls voice. i think this song is saying how he was sad and lonely until he had his daughter. then it says "you and your mum in front of me, peaches and cream to me" so it's defdinetly about his daughter

I think before johns daughter banjo was born he thought he was missing out. He regrets ever saying that his cup was half empty , because his daughter was always going to be with him and he always had danielle(his wife). I also think the three bands he has on his arm , atleast two of them represent his family. One for banjo and one for danielle

This song always gives me shiver because it is just such a beautiful and powerful song. It's just how live seems to be made whole when you have a child and they seem to be all that you may have been missing. The beauty of life.

Its strange that the album is titled "Sunrise over sea", yet this song is titled Peaches and Cream even though sunrise over sea has the most emphasis in the song

I saw a video of him playing this song and he had tears in his eyes. I have never seen a musician cry while playing their own song. I respect him tremendously and wish someone would love me that much ):

I have been to see John Butler live and he states its about his "Princess and queen" those being his daugther and wife. However he now also dedicates this song to his son. Anyone oout there PLEASE the next chance you have go and see him live, i cried!! Hes amazing live the stmosphere is overwhelming! He is a one of a kind man, musician. Its as though when he talks to the audience, that you know him personally as a friend. Hes what the human race should be like. Also i was about 4 meters away from him so it was all very overwhelming! x

Yeah, when I saw them he said the song's about his wife and daughter. They closed their set with this, and broke out the bongo drum solo. It was glorious.

A great song that really hit home for me. I used to say that my destiny was to die by 30 until my child was born he saved my life and gave me a reason to appreciate the world.

I remember first hearing this song in concert in 2003 and hoped to hell he'd release it because it's meaning is so powerful. At his last Sydney concert in 2005 he played it through one microphone and got the audience to sing along with him. Nearly everyone knew and sang the words. If you haven't seen John Butler in concert, you haven't lived. It is well worth it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
