I’m not a poet
And I know it
There is no deep secret
Tossing inside me

I have no timing
I can’t form my feelings
Sometimes I rhyme
Sometimes I don’t

So go ahead, take a look at my kitchen
Take a look at the woodgrain there
What’s it for? That hardwood floor
Is where I’m walkin’ and thinkin’

Walkin’ and thinkin’

About you

General Comment:I don't think he's being ironic or irreverent; I think he's just saying that wanting this person has worn him out and he's run out of eloquent or charming things to say, but he still wants her to know he's thinking about her.

General Comment:This song is irony. It is irreverant, to a degree. I feel like the woodgrain represents something real, static, and natural.
