You're telling me I should forget you
But why..
And your talking like I never knew you
But that's a lie..
And you're playing out your game again
Why are you never on my side,
And your telling me I should forget you
Come on the guy's a fake
What do you love him for.
And it was my mistake
Just kicking in his door
And if it's just a game
What are we crying for.
You're telling me I will regret you
But so..
And your talking like I should expect to
But you'll never know..
And he's left you in the rain again
And you were always on my mind
And your telling me I should forget you
Come on the guy's a fake
What do you love him for.
And it was my mistake
Just kicking in his door
And if it's just a game
What are we crying for.
I don't know anymore..
But why..
And your talking like I never knew you
But that's a lie..
And you're playing out your game again
Why are you never on my side,
And your telling me I should forget you
Come on the guy's a fake
What do you love him for.
And it was my mistake
Just kicking in his door
And if it's just a game
What are we crying for.
You're telling me I will regret you
But so..
And your talking like I should expect to
But you'll never know..
And he's left you in the rain again
And you were always on my mind
And your telling me I should forget you
Come on the guy's a fake
What do you love him for.
And it was my mistake
Just kicking in his door
And if it's just a game
What are we crying for.
I don't know anymore..

Why are you never on my side?
And you're telling me I should forget you
Come on, the guy's a fake
What do you love him for?
And it was my mistake,
Just kicking in his door
And if it's just a game
Then what are we crying for?
Okay, if i had a child i would love this song more than it.
secondly, niteflite01, you are kewl. you seem to know everthing about the songs. must be a huge fan. good on you.
and yes, damien rice is awsome. and also different from the frames. i think, IM NOT SURE, but i think he collaborated with the frames on Burn the Maps. i read that somewhere, but i dont know if there is any truth to it.
I was once in love with a boy, who was a friend of a boy who loved me (but I didn't knew), but after a while I realised he was just a 'fake'. And while hearing this song I realised what I've done and how much I hurt that other guy. This song means a lot to me and this Damien Rice-theorie is nice but if you would look deeper into yourself i think you'll see that it's just some lovething.
Glen has told several stories about this song, my favourite being that once he went camping with his girlfriend in Europe. At the site they stayed in a German couple put up their tent next to his. The German tent was bigger, had a better stove, and the German couple were fitter, happier and better looking.
Glen's girlfriend used to stare dreamily at this German bloke - so he said this song "was for a man who's girlfriend fancies the bloke with the bigger tent". Genius.
I think the real meaning behind the song, as told by Glen more often than not, is.. "about seeing an ex girlfriend in a bar, realising you still have feelings for her, but it's too late as she's going out with someone not right for her, and someone you possibly dislike very much yourself. You tell her, and she just tells you to get over yourself, and forget about her and not cause any trouble about it...."
