Lyrics for Lemon as interpreted by indignity

Lemon Lyrics
They've clipped my wings again
tore them apart and then
left me
No use to fly away to
my yesterday
of freedom
My eyes died back that day
seeing the hurt I may have done
Beat me instead of them
pain is my only zen
of fun

I'll go where secrets are sold
where roses unfold
I'll sleep as time goes by

So hurting here is where I belong dreaming a song
blood on my hands to stay strong
The flowers in the graveyard are all gone I don't belong
there is no right to heal the wrong
soup's on hot feelin' like a do or die
I can't throw up don't think i even want to try

You still can't make me cry
you've pinned this butterfly
down
My fire's burning out
kill my flame without
a frown
And starving hurts the soul
when you're hungry for
some love
So if I close my eyes
I can really fly
above

I'll go where secrets are sold
where roses unfold
I'll sleep as time goes by

So hurting here is where I belong dreaming a song
blood on my hands to stay strong
the flowers in the graveyard are all gone I don't belong
there is no right to heal the wrong
soup's on hot feelin' like a do or die
I can't throw up don't think I even want to
tryyy- tryyyy- tryyyyyy

OMG ... okay ... what's up with the lack of Katy Rose comments.

Anyway, I'm happy to be the first one to post here anyway!

Now this song to me represents a level of sadness beyond the place that human eyes can see. Okay, follow me through this interpretation.

I see this as her view of the world from an angel's eyes. That her wings have been clipped and she's fallen fro mthe sky.

"So hurting here is where I belong dreaming a song
blood on my hands to stay strong"

Now as a child she realizes the world around her. That she is meant to be hurt and to suffer. And with her scars she feels the strength, and her singing carries her through life.

This is of course my favorite part:

"You still can't make me cry
you've pinned this butterfly
down
My fire's burning out
kill my flame without
a frown
And starving hurts the soul
when you're hungry for
some love
So if I close my eyes
I can really fly
above "

Whether its life itself or some secret enemy is keeping her contained or basically controlling her. And her passion is dying. And she feels unloved, and without love she feels her soul is wearing away.

It is her dreams that keep her going. And physically she is very tired.

"I'll go where secrets are sold
where roses unfold
I'll sleep as time goes by"

So she sleeps, staying within her dream world because it at most reminds her of where she's from.

Anyway this song is really hard to crack in certain places. At least, to come to the conclusion on what it means to me. I'd love to see more posts on this! Please help me figure this out!

I love the interpretation above, and whilst on one level I think that chino69 could be completely correct.

I think that the song is just about pain and confusion to the extreme that one person can take. About someone not completely sure of their emotions and perhaps taking it out by abuse to themselves.

i think this song has traces of self-destructive behavior like cutting, anorexia and bullemia, which only adds to the sadness.

"blood on my hands to stay strong" could be a reference to cutting.

"I can't throw up don't think i even want to try" could be a reference to bullemia.

"And starving hurts the soul when you're hungry for some love" could be a reference to anorexia.

i could be wrong. i agree with the other comments on what the song is about, but i tohught that these lines had some significance.

i first herd this song on the movie thirteen, which is a brilliant thought provoking movie about the downward spiral of a 13 year old girl named tracy. the movie also stars holly hnter but im not gunna sit here and post a review, im simply gunna say that i believe with all of u. this is definatly a level of sadness noone is ment to fell but unfortunatly people do.

She doesn't look like Avril. Katy's hot, Avrils just disturbing.

Anyways. I love this song. Probally my favorite besides teaching myself to dream.

I agree with everythign you all have said about the song. She's in pain, and she feels as though society has left her, and she can get help from no one. She's forced to retreat to a world all her own.

And, since someone mention Thirteen(<33 it), I do think this song is perfect for it. Thirteen is a movie everyone who has a problem can relate too. This song talks about some of them.

to go with that comment about the song dealing with eatting disorder issues:

the "Soups on hot, feeling like i'll do or die. I can't throw up, don't think i even want to try"

people with an eatting disorder(anorexia, bulimia, ednos), will eat soup because it fills you up, but it's not high in calories.

I've heard many, many times that Katy Rose is bulimic. She kind of looks it too.

Katy Rose is fntastic, the way she makes you think about how much pain she is going through but is actually surviving to tell the story, shes obviously going through it personally and portraying that in her lyrics.

I first heard this song on a film called Thirteen (great film) and her lyrics reflect what happen in the film...
Absolutley fantastic!!!!:D

This is an amazingly beautiful song.. she sings it so emotionally, like she is having so much pain..
I first heard it after a friend of me died.. he committed suicide the 3th of April this year.. I read back in the chatlogs and there he said he liked this song very much.. thanks to him I now love it too..
It really represents the way I knew he felt often.
So the song is bound to my memories of him..
I really wished I could have done something to save him.. =(

I heard this song on the movie "Thirteen" (which is an awesome movie) and i fell in love with the song. It's not an average teen pop song. This song is basically about the problems that teens go through...like bullimia and cutting and depression...all i can say is mad song

I'll agree with Amy Loves Colin on the overdose theory. I was thinking that's what it was entirely, that she had taken some pills because she was so depressed and she didn't even want to throw them up to make herself feel better.

I read somewhere once that Katy Rose wrote this song for the movie "Thirteen". I can see how a lot of the events in the movie relate to these lyrics. I don't know if you've ever seen the movie, if not, I definitely recommend it.

They've clipped my wings again / tore them apart and then / left me / No use to fly away to / my yesterday / of freedom

The first part is all about her freedom being taken away. And all she can do is remember the way it used to be, but she tries not to because it hurts her to think of the way things could be.

My eyes died back that day / seeing the hurt I may have done / Beat me instead of them / pain is my only zen / of fun

And here she hurt someone and lost her innocence. She's torn up with guilt and the only way to get by is to hurt herself.

I'll go where secrets are sold / where roses unfold / I'll sleep as time goes by

I think this part is about her contemplating suicide.

So hurting here is where I belong dreaming a song / blood on my hands to stay strong / The flowers in the graveyard are all gone I don't belong / there is no right to heal the wrong / soup's on hot feelin' like a do or die / I can't throw up don't think i even want to try

I think the blood on her hands is her own and she wants to pay penance for what she's done, but she can't. And the guilt makes her feel sick, but she doesn't want to throw up because she feels too guilty about what she did.

You still can't make me cry / you've pinned this butterfly / down / My fire's burning out / kill my flame without / a frown / And starving hurts the soul / when you're hungry for / some love / So if I close my eyes / I can really fly / above

And that part is to someone who's hurt her, the one who took her freedom, her happiness away. And they don't regret it at all. They don't care. She feels like no one loves her, but when she sleeps, she dreams and is happy again.

Ok, so I definitely agree with the eating disorder theory, the song describes it well.. I just wanted to provide my input for the title.

It's referring to lemon like a mess-up.. Such as if you get a new car that breaks down alot right after you get it, it's a "lemon."

She's calling herself a lemon in the sense that she's "broken down."

I've never heard that Katy Rose is bulimic, but I'm not surprised. The eating disorder references are everywhere in her music. Not just this song either; you can see references on the entire album.

kayso, the song is "perfect" for thirteen because she wrote it for thirteen. and katy rose is not bullimic, the theory is stupid. she's simply petite, no doubt.

the song talks about everything that occurs in thirteen. she's thinking of a place she wants to be happy in, but that place isn't as happy as she thought. just like how tracy thought she'd be happy with evie, the bad girl.

this is one of my favorite songs, i love listening to it in the car. perfecto.
