I think her father had something to do with it....hmm...
Anyway, it's like abuse or bullying etc:

It makes me feel much better when I hear it because my friend was bullied and it's just like hey, I'm better than them, their problem they'll never know me for who i am.

Overall, the song is about a bad boyfriend, I think. He scares her, possibly because he abuses her or possibly another reason, but she loves him all the same. And he says he's always going to be around and it sounds lovely, but she knows he's lying.

She feels like the only way anyone will pay attention to her is if something's wrong and it hurts. But, no matter what they do she's going to stay strong and be happy. She won't let them drag her down.

The girl she sees is herself. She's angry and hurt so she makes herself feel better by throwing herself into fruitless relationships. How she lost her purity is sketchy. It might be rape, but it could be that she was so desparate to be loved that she consented to sex to make sure that she wouldn't be left alone. She's been hurt over and over, but she won't let it get her down. She's figuring out that only she can put herself back together.

Constantly criticized, she has to stay strong and believe in herself. It's the only way she'll survive.

I always think of the movie "thirteen" when i hear katy rose, because she relates to it a lot she said, and has two songs featured in it. So i think it's about doing all these things on the outside, but it's not really her, so no matter what, she'll try to keep her head up and glow. something like that.

rose_redsapphire, not to be crude, but that's ridiculous. you are aware that her father is a musician, correct? she thanks him continueously in her credits on her cd, he never did anything to hurt her.

the song talks about a guy that hurts her, maybe hits her, and then kisses on her and says he loves her, etc. and nobody pays attention so he thinks he can keep it up. in the song, she's basically telling him that he can do whatever, it doesn't matter because she'll "glow".

beautiful song. i really like it.

well it is basically related to sexual mollestation, but the weird thing is that, somehow, she likes it, when she says "it paints such a lovely picture", my analyze, she was happy that the guy was giving her attention though she knows its a bad kind of attention, but she doesnt mind it if hes gonna stick around to tell her shes beautiful and she means to him...

it's unclear exactly what it's about, but probably about someone putting her down verbally that she respects, and she knows better than to believe what he says.

I agree with Hotel-Paper's analysis. From the first verse, I get this idea that it's about a pedophile who basically uses her and manipulates her to do inappropriate things ("You can close your eyes and tell me that you are a visionary") He tries to make it sound okay but in the end, it's still wrong ("But no matter how you frame it, it's still pornography"). The second verse sounds like she is being raped or molested and she tries to say no but he won't listen to her and keeps going. ("Nobody seems to hear till I scream and shout...") The line blowing my candle out sounds like losing your virginity and losing her innocence. The chorus sounds like she is finding comfort in herself the "glow" is her inner strength that she finds when she is struggling. The next verse talks about the aftermath of her being molested. She knows that she is not the same girl as she was before and now is trying to heal herself though he still treats her badly. He basically tries to give her a hard time ("There's so many things you rant about") and (Blowing her candle out") in this phrase sounds like he's bringing down her self'esteem and self confidence. The chorus is basically her trying to convince herself she still is special and to not let the guy make her feel worthless. This is a very deep song and can be used in so many instances.

I love this song so much, because I've been the target of the mean kids at school (everyone) and I just tell myself "I'll be the perfect someone that you'll never know". The basic "their loss" mind set, but coming from Katy it sounds so much better.
