Ummm yeah..."quiffporn is my hero"...do you have any idea how sad that sounds? Oh, and i agree with the person who said something simliar about this earlier- Why bother going on to a lyrics site, specifically searching for a band you hate, then bash them? Dont yu have anything better to do with your time, like go on lyic pages of bands you DO like? (Quiffporn can be the exception, the dude is funny) And as for this being "emo" music, that leaves me to pity you for being fed crap by the media (MTV mostly) and actually being stupid enough to take it word for word. Do you have any idea what emo music really is? And no, it generally isnt the stuff that sad emo kiddies sit listening to while slittng their wrists. Go look up something like Rites of spring if you want to bash real emo music...which has very little, if anything to do with emo kids. I also think that you might want to keep your obvious homophobia to yourself as that is classed as discrimination. As for "real clothes"...I wear jeans, t-shirts, occasionally skirts or sometimes even dresses, what do you wear fucktard?

HIM's been my favorite band for years, but I'm agreeing with some of quiffporn's earlier comments. They have been portrayed as a band for goth/emo wannabe girls who would do anything to suck Ville's dick. But there's one reason for that.. and only one reason for that. Bam Margera. Bam has such a large fan basis of niave 12 year old middle school girls. And of course, if he listens to HIM.. they'll listen to HIM.
Quiffporn, you're forgetting that there are normal people that listen to HIM.. you're only focusing on the majority demographic. I don't know if I'd qualify as normal, but I'm not a goth or emo fucktard with no outlook on reality. I'm a guy, 15 years old, and I hate Bam Margera, but HIM's still my favorite band due to the fact that Valo is the best vocalist I've ever heard.
I'll admit. Ville goes overboard with the lyrics.. but that's just the image they set for themselve. They can't change it now, even if they wanted to.. and it's a smart decision, to be making music like this at the rise of the emo, depressed retards in High School. It's just aiming to please the majority market..
Oh, and by the way. All of you saying that, since Quiff doesn't like the band, he should just go away.. you're idiots. My sister and me are are really close (I hasten to use the term friends, because Im not sure that you can be friends with a sibling, but) and she is a big fan of HIM. Aside from any time she plays their music around the house, when I drive her to work in the morning, she makes me play HIM (obviously I turn that hateful shit off as soon as she get out of the car), but for this reason, I feel confident, that I have heard most of HIMs back catalogue. I would class her as being normal. On the strength of your last few messages, I am classing you as normal aswell (don't make me a liar, lol).
To be honest, (as you, rightly, touched upon), its not so much who Ville Valo is (although I do hate him, quite a lot), as, who the 'fans' (read:'groupies') make him out to be. He isn't a god, he isn't a literary genius (and if you have noted my spelling you will notice that, neither am I), and he isn't any of the other titles, which teenage girls seem so quick to bestow upon him.
As much of a chode as Bam Margera is, I don't honestly think he can be blamed for all of the negative attention that HIM has recieved.
Part of the whole HIM 'ethos' is (at least, for teenage girls) to do with the way that Ville seems to speak to them, (or perhaps more precisely, because they are all hormonal and feel the need to apply all of HIMs lyrics to whatever they are feeling at that time), which results in HIMs fan base, being composed, mainly, of a bunch of early teenage girls, crying at the front of the stage, because; 'Ville totaly understands how I am feeling'.
I feel nothing but utter self-contempt for saying this, but; I, too feel that a change in lyrical direction would be a mistake for HIM at this point. The fact is, if Ville started espousing the virtues of getting drunk and sacrificing livestock to the devil, a significant fall in their fan base, would not be a million fucking miles behind.
My problem, is simply that they chose this path from day one. Appealing to the lowest common denominator, will allways assure you a smooth ride on the path of least resistance, this is a lesson I am sure Villes dad taught him, right about the time he sold his first inflatable sheep...
Anyway, (and this is totally just for you, Exiled, because, whether you agree with me or not; you are smart dude, you have got your head screwed on, like very few people on this board, or on God's green earth, for that matter...), thank you for reading this shite...

First of. Bam Margera. As far as I can tell, he is the main reason why they have such a bad demographic. Of course he isn't the ONLY reason, but.. think about it. HIM is a Finnish band, hardly does any performances in the States.. only one album was released in the US (the rest were imports from Finland). Yet.. they have a larger fan basis here in the US than in the UK. Why? Because Bam Margera is very, very widely known by 12 year old girls who think he's "hott". Usually, those are the preps who are getting horomonal and questioning their life, and slowly becoming more and more emo. So they watch Viva la Bam, see that he thinks HIM is "the perfect rock band (quote)" and they decide to download their music. Then they fall in love with it because one, Bam likes it. And two, as you said, they think "Ville understands me". It's mostly his fault.
Eh.. alright what else. Oh, right. I had to comment on some of your stuff..

I have to disagree with your saying that Ville isn't a literary genius. Just because he uses deep metaphors in his songwriting instead of outright saying what he means doesn't make him an inferior songwriter.
There were a few other comments but I keep losing connection at the moment and I'm not risking losing this either. They were pretty pointless anyways.. eh.
I can see where you're coming from though. I'll admit, HIM on the outside looks like another conformistical (if that's not a word, it should be) band that is trying to make a quick buck on america's most demanding music group. Truth be told, they don't really have much to do with America.. so I doubt this is true.
