So am I good or bad
The way that things did turn out
I did only make you sad
And we cried and we cried on the phone
Oh but in my mind
You were never that all alone

Oh you were majesty
Your robes were heavy
And your longing was a cutting from bone

So am I, am I good or bad
Could only awake your anger
I could only make you mad
Now was that how you showed me
That you were still so young and bold
Anyway, those fights did drive me
And I was dying of thirst and I wasn't growing old

Oh you were majesty
Your robes were heavy
And your robes were very cold
Oh oh oh majesty, oh

But in my mind
I could still climb inside your bed
And I could be victorious
Still the only man
To pass through the glorious arch of your head, oh

Oh you were majesty
Your robes were heavy
And your treats were very red
Oh you were majesty
Now it's like I said
That spirit, it's now dead
Oh oh oh majesty, oh

The open sound of this song, the music as well as the vocals, give it something majestic.

My heart seems to sink whenever I hear this song.

This must be one of the greatest songs ever in the world.

Both versions are equally good, though I prefer the album one since it's more refined.

Love lost... but he still longs for her... A very beautiful, melancholic song.

    My Interpretation

Not to diminish the song, since I love it very much, but this to me is about a cat's death. My own just passed away (we had to put her to sleep) and I think this suits in almost every way. She was very playful, but always left scars on your arms (always ready for a good fight)..but still reserved and majestic. And every night she crawled in the bed past my legs..to the head, where you could pet the glorious arch of her head. We miss her very much đź–¤ I just think that not every song is a classic tragic love song...we have a lot more relationships in our lives..

What's he saying repeatedly near end of song? sounds like "it's just a t-bone steak"

This song, folk! This song is killing me! Such a wonderful song! I’m not sure if it was madrugada himself or madru talking about it, but I just loved the complexity behind the song! Apparently this song switches between the thoughts and feelings two people have to each other, and that’s how this song was put together! Just fell in love with it even more when I heard the interpretation so I just had to share it with you, folks!

So am I Good or bad?

Genius! Both of them thinks that! She is like, am I good or bad, decide for the love of god, so you can find out if you want to stay or not. You see, he is not someone taking any risks in life and always playing it safe, so that’s how the dilemma started. And he in return stands far away and being scared of getting close bc he doesn’t know if she thinks he is bad or good. Just genius!

The way that things did turn out I did only make you sad

Self explanatory! All above makes her sad ofc.

And we cried and we cried On the phone Oh but in my mind You were never that all alone

Again if this isn’t anything but gorgeous than I don’t know what is folks! She did cry and cry, and the thing is since he is playing it so safe, he didn’t dare to come near but instead he hacked her phone! Craycray! And he thinks he cried but he didn’t and continued so that made her cry even more! And not only that, he played it safe, and she was sad, but she couldn’t get any closer either bc she knew he wasn’t exactly all alone! He had others! that’s why he was so indecisive!

Oh you were majesty Your robes were heavy And your longing was cut from bone

Again self explanatory. She thought he was looking at himself as an majesty, thinking he was all up there and looking down on her by making her feel like she is a plan b.

So am I Am I good or bad? Could only awake your anger I could only make you mad

He is again asking her, but as you can see, what he does made her angry ofc but all she wanted was for him to be more of an risk taker, since she thought he was more courageous before. And could stand up for what he really meant and felt

Now was that how you showed me That you were still so young and bold Anyway those fights did drive me And I was dying of thirst and I wasn`t growin' old

No comment. This part has too long interpretation and I’m busy right now so that must come as a part two. Sorry folks!

Oh you were majesty Your robes were heavy And your robes were very cold Oh, majesty

But in my mind I could still climb inside your bed And I could be victorious Still the only man to pass to the glorious arch of your head, oh

This one is all him thinking. He thinks, again just bc he is a majesty, that he can come and go whenever. Which is sad bc that shows that he really doesn’t want her, but needs her for making him feel good and victorious about himself. And she is not actually saying so much against him being victorious in bed. Even though victories takes time and attentions and collaboration. So she just thinks for the love of god, stop thinking that much and start to walk the talk man. And don’t you worry that much, it takes two to tango. And if the two wants to tango with each other than it will be victorious, if not first but after a while. But only when the two want too.

Oh you were majesty Your robes were heavy And your cheeks were very red

Oh you were majesty And it's like I said That spirit is now dead

    Oh, majesty

And the songs ends with him going back to being not risk taker, and never daring to take a chance. This ends really back folks! They never followed through, he thought of himself as too much of a majesty! Really sad!

As for me, I actually only like the voice in this song, and the melody.

Holiday

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
