[Chorus]
When it comes to being true, at least true to me
One thing I found, one thing I found
Oh no you'll neva let me down,
Get up I get (down)
Get up I get (down)
Get up I get (down)
Get up I get (down)
Get up I get (down)
Get up I get (down)

[Jay-Z]
Yo, yo first I snatched the streets, then I snatched the charts
First I had they ear, now I have they heart
Rappers came and went
I've been here from the start
I seen them put it together
Watch them take it apart
See the rovers roll up with ribbons
I see them re poed, re sold then re driven
So when I reload, he holds number one positions
When you hot, I'm hot
And when your feet cold, mines are sizzlin
It's plain to see
Niggas can't f*** wit me
Cuz ima be that nigga for life
This is not an image
This is God given
This is hard livin
Mixed wit Cristal sippin
It's the most consistent, Hov
Give you the most hits you can fit inside a whole disc and
Nigga I'm home on these charts, y'all niggas visiting
It's Hov tradition, Jeff Gordon of rap
I'm back to claim pole position, holla at ya boy

[Chorus]

[Kanye West]
I get down for my grandfather who took my momma
Made her sit in that seat where white folks ain't want us to eat
At the tender age of 6 she was arrested for the sitins
And with that in my blood I was born to be different
Now niggas can't make it to ballots to chose leadership
But we can make it to Jacobs or to the dealership
That's why I hear new music and I just dont be feelin it
Racism still alive, they just be concealin it
But I know they don't want me in the damn club
They even make me show ID to get inside of Sam's Club
I did deal dirt and went to church to get my hands scrubbed
That why Ive baptized these 3 or 4 times
But in the land where niggas praise
Yukons and getting paid
Its gon take a lot more than coupons to get us saved
Like it take a lot more than do-rags to get your way
Nothin sad as that day my girl father passed away
So I promise to Mr. Raney, Im gonna marry your daughter
And you know I gotta thank you for they way that she was brought up
And I know that you were smiling when you seen the car I bought her
And you sent tears from heaven when you seen my car get balled up, but
I can't complain what the accident did to my left eye
Cuz look what an accident did to Left Eye
First Aaliyah, now Romeo Must Die
I know I got angels watchin me from the other side

[Chorus x2]

[J.Ivy]
Were all here for a reason on a particular path
You don't need a curriculum to know that you are part of the math
Cats think I'm delirious, but I'm so damn serious
That's why I expose my soul to the globe, the world
I'm trying to make it better for these little boys and girls
I'm not just another individual, my spirit is a part of this
That's why I get spiritual, but I get my hymns from Him
So it's not me, it's He that's lyrical
I'm not a miracle, I'm a heaven-sent instrument
My rhythmatic regimen navigates melodic notes for your soul and your mental
That's why I'm instrumental
Vibrations is what I'm into
Yeah, I need my loot by rent day
But that aint what gives me the heart of Kunte Kinte
I'm tryina Give us us free like Cinque
I can't stop, that's why I'm hot
Determination, dedication, motivation
I'm talking to you, my many inspirations
When I say it I can't, let you or self down
If I were on the highest cliff, on the highest rift
And you slipped off the side and clenched on to your life in my grip
I would never, ever let you down
And when these words are found
Let it been known that God's penmanship has been signed with a language called love
That's why my breath is felt by the deaf
And why my words are heard and confined to the ears of the blind
I, too, dream in color and in rhyme
So I guess I'm one of a kind in a full house
Cuz whenever I open my heart, my soul, or my mouth
A touch of God rains out

[Kanye West]
Takeem to church

[Chorus]

[Jay-Z]
Who else you know been hot this long?
Started from nothin but he got this strong
Picked the rock from a pebble
Peddled rock before I met you
Peddle bikes got my nephews
Pedal bikes because they special
That you tell that man I thought it, well
Somebody mustve taught him cause
Every fourth quarter, I light the Mike Jord in them
Number one albums, what? I got like four of them
More of them on the way
The eighth wonder on the way
Clear the way Im here to stay
Yall can save the chitter-chat
This and that, this and Jay
This and Jayll get you maced
When I start spittin them lyrics
Niggas get very religious
Six Hail Marys please, Father forgive us
Young!
The archbishop, the Pope John Paul of yall niggas
The way yall all follow Jigga
Hovs a living legend and Ill tell you why
Everybody wanna be Hov and Hovs still alive

General Comment:Man, one of my favorite tracks of all time.. Point, blank, period.. They speakin real talk, no boo shi, like most of tha music you hear nowadays.. J.Ivy part takes tha cake tho, easy, I don't even kno who this guy is, but its unbelievable how he delivers such an upliftin poem/speech/sermon whateva.. Incredible song..

Jay talks about his come up, Yay, speakin bout his as well.. Tha reference to Left Eye & Aaliyah (spellcheck) was sick..

General Comment:If I'm in the right mood and alone, it makes me cry. It it without doubt the best rap track ever produced. There's no violence in it, J Ivy talks with so much conviction, it elevates and Jay-Z with Kanye, sounding like they arguing (Like on Diamonds, listen carefully) is just primo. I think when KW had that car crash, he was kissed by a muse.

General Comment:I'm pretty sure J. Ivy is actually a poet not a rapper but he has connections with some of the roc boys. Regardless, behind every line in this song there is meaning and words can't describe what it may mean to you.
"If I were of the highest cliff, on the highest riff
And you slipped down the side and clinched on to your life in my grip
I would never, ever let you down"

That line I think is the best of the song. I mean Kanye West, In my mind is the only man keeping rap alive and letting it go to the dogs(you know what I'm talking about) and Jay-Z's flow in all his songs are amazing but I think J. Ivy isn't given enough credit in this song.
In my mind, one of the best Kanye West songs out there.

General Comment:yea, jay killed it lyrically, but anyone who overlooks the passion delivered from ye and ivy are missin' out. I dont care if you're religiously driven or not, the content is on point. Jay told the same story in this song as he does in many of his other songs, but used different lyrics (and yea the lyrics are nasty), but ye came with something new and unique. This song, Jesus Walks and Through the wire ....damn what an album, "I swear this right here, history in the makin"

General Comment:It's funny how no one was giving J. Ivy any credit until 1alill's comment.
His lyrics and flow far surpass Kanye's and Jay-Z's, but sadly the intelligence he drops is probably too much for the average listener.
I am an atheist, but even I can appreciate this song. It's one of the strongest on the album.

General Comment:this song is soooo damn cool. it's so magnificent that it helps overlook the fact that all jay z did was talk about how great he is. kanye was sick. awesome. amazing. j ivy was out of this world and let us please not forget the back up singers. that church-style chorus is what brought my attention to the song. also, the beginning is tied to jesus walks and it also gives it a special touch. this song means for kanye that he was his destiny to be great "And with that in my blood I was born to be different". to j.ivy it means that his lyrics come from above and 2 jay it was just another opportunity to boast his greatness. i love jay but he really needs to get over it

General Comment:I love this song so much. Apparently the song is a dedication to his grandma. And what a song it is - the meaning is vey obvious. he is saying that no matter his stardom he is going to stay true to himself, although Jay-Z's rap was selfish and self glorifying so it didnt stick to the song meaning (no matter how good his flow was)

J-Ivy's poem is absolutely flawless, he made me love poetry because i have never heard it like that and so meaningful like that. One i finished listening i rewinded it because i felt so insipered and uplifted. It is a very uplifting song, you have to listen to it like 10 times to appreciate every word he says. My favourite is : That's why I get spiritual, but I get my hymns from Him
So it's not me, it's He that's lyrical
    I'm not a miracle, I'm a heaven-sent instrument
My rhythmatic regimen navigates melodic notes for your soul and your mental
    That's why I'm instrumental
    Vibrations is what I'm into
Yeah, I need my loot by rent day
But that ain’t what gives me the heart of Kunte Kinte
and of course the majority favourite:If I were on the highest cliff, on the highest rift
And you slipped off the side and clenched on to your life in my grip
I would never, ever let you down
And when these words are found
Let it been known that God's penmanship has been signed with a language called love
    AND
That's why my breath is felt by the deaf
And why my words are heard and confined to the ears of the blind
I, too, dream in color and in rhyme
So I guess I'm one of a kind in a full house
Cuz whenever I open my heart, my soul, or my mouth
A touch of God rains out

I love the whole thing together and hate all you want but i think it was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Jay-Z's self glorifying rap.

(And Kanye West was mind-blowing as expected)

    General Comment:Also,

If I were on the highest cliff, on the highest rift
And you slipped off the side and clenched on to your life in my grip
I would never, ever let you down
And when these words are found
Let it been known that God's penmanship has been signed with a language called love
That's why my breath is felt by the deaf
And why my words are heard and confined to the ears of the blind
I, too, dream in color and in rhyme
So I guess I'm one of a kind in a full house

I love these lines they are the best in the entire song. In my opinion at least.

General Comment:Words can't explain how much I like this song, every word every line is worth reading and has meaning behind it. I don't know who J.Ivy is but I'm very interested in him after I listened to this. His lines are the best on the song although I love Jay-Z's and Kanye west alot! I searched songs by him everywhere I can't find any? Anyone know where I can find other songs by J-Ivy.
