here we go around the world
we spin around on the turnstiles
we create

here we are in caravan
blinders up high were the dreamers

and don't forget you're the only one
(you're the only one)
you hold your kite on a string

don't sleep too long
cause everything you need is right here
don't sleep too long
pleasant dreams but please don't sleep too long
everything you need is right here
don't sleep too long
pleasant dreams but please don't sleep too long

here we are in candyland
one million dreams are realizing everyday
here we are in apples corps
four million feet walk right by me everyday
here we are in old New York
ten million eyes stare right through me

and don't forget you're not the only one
(not the only one)
who turned your life all around?

My Interpretation:Yeah if you've ever done acid the entirety of this album relates to the experience pretty strongly.
Holding your kite on a string? Your mind on acid is so elevated, but you're still tethered to reality. Gotta come back to Earth.

Pleasant dreams but please don't sleep too long

Being on acid is a nice dream, but everything you'll ever need exists in the world, don't need acid to enjoy it. My interpretation anyway.

General Comment:I'm just going to go ahead any say that it's about self-responsibility.

"and don't forget you're the only one
    (you're the only one)
you hold your kite on a string"

You control your life completely. They remind us to not sleep to long, because there is an apparent reality.

There's probably something else in there about realizing dreams.

General Comment:Last song on the album...although the LSD reference is probably not accidental, I think it's got more to do with where the remaining lead character (Olivia) is, almost 20 years after the earthquake. She's in New York City (the "Big Apple (corps)" now, in 1925, thinking back to everything that transpired before (and after) the earthquake.

General Comment:I think this is just about dreams. Dreams are much more beautiful, and incredible than real life. Unfortunately, if we waste our lives dreaming, then we can't exactly accomplish our dreams.

I just get that from the chorus "everything you need is right here."
