Lyrics for Auf Achse as interpreted by blood_and_the_ice

Auf Achse Lyrics
You see her
You can't touch her
You hear her
You can't hold her
You want her
You can't have her
You want to
But she won't let you

She's not so special
So look what you've done boy (x3)

She's not so special
So look what you've done

Now you wish she'd never
Come back here again
Oh, never come back here again

You see her
You can't touch her
You hear her
You can't hold her
You want her and
You can't have her
You want to
But she won't let you (x2)

She's not so special
So look what you've done boy (x3)

She's not so special
So look what you've done

Now I'm nailed above you
Gushing from my side
It's with your sins
that you have killed me
Thinking of your sins I die
Thinking how you'd let them touch you
How you'd never realise
That I'm ripped and hang forsaken
Knowing never will I rise
Again

You still see her
Oh and you hear her
Ooh and you want her
Oh you want to
You see her
You hear her
You want her
And you still want to

I think this song is about a guy who is broken up with a girl but he still is in love with her, but the reason they broke up is partly his fault, so "look what you've done boy." And he wants to be with her, but she doesnt want him back and she is dating other people and he cant stand "thinking how you'd let them touch you."

a guy thinks hes in love with a girl, but in reality he is only in love with the IDEA of the perfect relationship... with the perfect girl. then there is the snap back to reality. at least... to me.

Man on tv, you fucking retard. The website is called SONGMEANINGS and has space for comments so that people can discuss the MEANINGS behind songs.

As to the title, babelfish says it means "on axle". Whatever the hell that means.

the fish is right, but the phrase "auf Achse sein" means "to be on the move".

"Auf Achse" was also a popular TV series in the 80s in Germany about two truck drivers.

I think that the song is about Jesus' last thoughts on the cross as he looks at Mary Magdalene. At least that's what I feel, based on whole "sins" part.

directlly, "auf achse" means "on axil" which would to be on the move. yeah. and i also think this song is about jesus. i think its showing that even the holyst of people have impure thoughts (thinking of the woman and the hopelessness of the torture).

by the way, this is my first post. so if its a little stupid, i appologize.

i agree with mcb, i don't see how this song could not be about jesus.

Now I'm nailed above you
Gushing from my side
It's with your sins
that you have killed me
Thinking of your sins I die
Thinking how you'd let them touch you
How you'd never realise
That I'm ripped and hang forsaken
Knowing never will I rise
Again

hanging on the cross... dying for other people's sins... "I will never rise again"... that screams christ

or maybe he's comparing himself to christ and using it as an analogy?

First off, about the title, you guys who said "on the move" are correct. At the Chicago concert on June 12th the singer said it meant, "on the road".

I think this song is about being blinded by love. Falling totally in love with somebody, wanting only to be with them. Being at the point where you'd do anything for them (ala the "Now I'm nailed above you" christ thingy), and then looking back later and realizing that she really wasn't worth it and that she wasn't as good of a thing as you made her out to be.

Guy breaks up with his girlfriend and regrets it afterwards.
He sees himself as being a divine, portraying himself as Jesus, because she has gone out and been with many other men.
The mistakes he has made haunt him and he's dillusional about the situation, he's upset because he's alone.
That's what I get out of it, anyways.

"The title is a German expression meaning ‘on the axle’. Lyrically it’s about moving on and abandoning that unrequited love situation. It also comes from a German TV programme Nick watched as a kid in Munich. Musically we wanted to get that coldness and melancholy that you have within that situation yet have it in this dance setting as well." - Alex Kapranos

Yeah, I think Kapranos was doing that. That's what I got, but then the end confused me. Was it about Jesus, or was he saying he was Jesus? I decided it was abotu a kind of betrayal; like the girl forced the relationship to an end, and he couldn't deal, and it felt like he was being crucified by her action.

I don't think the last part of the song is actually about the crucifixtion of Jesus. I think he was using that as a metaphor and an analogy. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I'm supposing that it's about a guy loves a girl, but she doesn't share his feelings and he wasts a lot of time over her, which is bad because she's really bad for him. The final part suggests that he feels that he's suffered greatly because of her, as if she's crucified him, and he's basically a goner. Usually I'm better at wording this stuff, but for some reason I can't right now.

I'm pretty sure the entire song is about Mary Magdelene and Jesus... Jesus was supposed to be this upright, upstanding guy, not looking at women... especially not mary mag.
the middle part about the crucifixion gives it away, and if not that... what about this?

"She's not so special
So look what you've done boy"

look what he's done, look at mary mag.. story has it she was a prostitute, but ask any credible historian and that is not the case.. but still, i think the song is about the common idea/speculation of jesus's temptation by mary magdalene... and maybe the entire song is an analogy/metaphor for his own life?

there we go.

Personally I think its about how Christ feels for people who wont come to know him. In Judeo-Christian theology Christ died for our sins, so technically, if it wasnt for us, he couldve lived. Also in Christian theology, Christ REALLY wants to be part of our lives. He (being God) is omnipotent and omnicient and knows us and just wants us to know him in return. The title is probably in referal to the main support beam of the cross, some theologians theorize(apologies for the redundancy) that the cross wasnt square and well honed, and that it was just two tree trunks slapped together, being round, a tree trunk could TECHNICALLY be an axle for a primitive wagon( hence ON Axle).

Also I think the crucifiction scene is about christ, see, in order to see if you were dead or not roman soldiers broke your legs, but they didnt do that with Christ, they pierced his side with a sword(hence the side bleeding) that was a big thing, because that filled some major prophecies in the Bible and Torah.
