Meet me on the other side
Meet me on the other side
I'll see you on the other side
See you on the other side

Honey now if I'm honest
I still don't know what love is
Another mirage folds into the haze of time recalled
And now the floodgates cannot hold
All my sorrow all my rage
A teardrop falls on every page

Meet me on the other side
Meet me on the other side

Maybe I oughta mention
Was never my intention
To harm you or your kin
Are you so scared to look within
The ghosts are crawling on our skin
We may race and we may run
We'll not undo what has been done
Or change the moment when it's gone

Meet me on the other side
Meet me on the other side
I'll see you on the other side
I'll see you on the other side

I know it would be outrageous
To come on all courageous
And offer you my hand
To pull you up on to dry land
When all I got is sinking sand
The trick ain't worth the time it buys
I'm sick of hearing my own lies
And love's a raven when it flies

Meet me on the other side
Meet me on the other side
I'll see you on the other side
I'll see you on the other side

Honey now if I'm honest
I still don't know what love is

General Comment:I think the song describes a situation when two people still love each other but this relationship is beyond repair - "we want undo what has been done". Maybe one cheated on nother. And even if he tries to get back together again it won't help and it won't last. It will only be temporary ("the trick ain't worth the time it buys") because the core of the relationship is broken and it will die eventually. He doesn't want to lie to himself anylonger and pretend that everything's going to be alright.

He is devastated because he knows he can't change anything, something happened that had broken this relationship and his trust. Even if there's still love they won't be together. Maybe in another life - "meet me on the other side".

My Interpretation:This is a powerful song for me, because it describes a relationship I was in so well.

The two were in a relationship, but they both had weaknesses too strong for the other to be able to handle:

I know it would be outrageous
    To come on all courageous
    And offer you my hand
To pull you up on to dry land
When all I got is sinking sand

She's hurting too, but he's helpless to rescue her because he isn't strong enough. Maybe he's been too emotionally wounded by something. Maybe he has an addiction or illness. Maybe she does too. He's been trying to fake it in the past, but he knows that continuing will only delay the inevitable:

The trick ain't worth the time it buys
I'm sick of hearing my own lies

He still loves her, but he sometimes wonders how it could be love, because shouldn't love be able to overcome those things? But it's too late now - something's happened that makes getting her back an impossibility. Maybe she's gone on to a different life with someone else. Maybe he knows that they'll never be able to make it together no matter how much they want to. Maybe their weaknesses were feeding off each other. It sounds like she may be in denial: "Are you so scared to look within?"

This is an intense longing for someone who was there at your fingertips but slipped through because life sometimes throws things at you that love cannot overcome. But in death, those things won't matter anymore, and maybe you can meet there someday and be with each other in a way you couldn't be in life. Or perhaps it may not be death but just getting healthy again and meeting each other someday on the other side of the dark places they're both in now.

My Opinion:This is a song that makes beautiful the saddest moments in my life. I once loved a man more than anything else in the world, and he loved me more.. our fairytale changed when we created a life together, and turned into a tragedy when we chose to give that angel back its wings. A choice made with great pain, fear.. regret. There was no one to blame but ourselves, we caused our own heartbreak. He couldn't bare to look into the face of the woman whom he'd both created and taken life with.. and he left her soon after, me. The love we shared was something that can never be taken away or replaced. I know that he still loves me, just as I do him. In another place, in another time, our fairytale never ended, and together as three we lived happily ever after.. on the other side.

General Comment:This song to me is about an alcoholic or drug addict who wants to get sober. It's about them begging their loved one to take another chance and trust them when they say they can quit whatever it is they're using and get to the other side. It's about the promises and mirage of a good life that fade away into the blur of being high, the regret and remorse an addict feels each time they try to get sober and can't. The addict never means to harm those they love. They're asking their loved one to change themselves as well, to look within and root out the ghosts and resentments that kill love, to realize they can't change the past, only the future. The addict can't offer any assistance even to the person they love the most because they know they can't even help themselves. And how can you love someone else if you don't even love yourself? How can you know love if you don't even think you're loveable? They're asking the person they love most to try one more time and trust that they can get to the other side. Haunting, so sad, so tragic. I love this song.

General Comment:well... i think it talks about love too but in a much more positive way ... which he has never found so far. He is asking her to meet him on the other side.. where love is... where he has never been... where he will loose his mind. He cant stand it anymore.. He wants to go to the other side... Isent everybody?

General Comment:I'm pretty sure it's about the death of David's father.

He was saying on Live from Abbey Road that it was about dealing with it..

    Lovely song though.

General Comment:Beautiful. Haunting. I dig that piano riff - it's recorded raw and lonesomely. You can feel the emotions of pain echo out through out the speakers as the Narrator would rather die than live without a person they love. The song could mean "meet me on the otherside" of a bad riff in a relationship, but the mortal tones of "meet me on the otherside" of life, are far more powerful.
