Heartache is knocking on her door
Shadows dance outside her window
Tears keep falling on the floor
As the world around her crumbles

If you want to save her
First you have to save yourself
If you want to free her from the hurt
Don't do it with your pain
If you want to see her smile again
Don't show her you're afraid
Because your circle of fear is the same

Love can be as cold as grave
A one-way ticket to endless sorrow
An empire of gentle hate
Today without tomorrow

It's the circle of regret
The circle of hate
The circle of death
Your circle of fear is the same

General Comment:I relate to this, to a degree that I don't think many others would think of.
I feel like it is about my relationship with my parents, I am going through a rough patch, but they are yet to help me do anything about it.
I know that sounds silly, but I just felt the need to share that.

General Comment:This song really made me think, because recently there's a girl who I really like, and i'd been seeing her, but when i told her these things, she told me that she was scared that a relationship would end up a disaster and she didn't want to lose me, then she said that I could do way better than her, and I was so surprised because I thought I was the one with problems, and I wasn't, so I think this was a good take home message to listen and understand rather than push your own negative feelings onto her, because things will never work between you if you do

General Comment:I also have the same question...Why this song is not really valued? I think it's an awesome song...My absolute fave in my top 3... I'm in love with the line "Love can be as cold as grave The one way ticket to endless sorrow (so fuckin true... : ( ) An empire of gentle pain (absolutely genius...) Today without tomorrow! " It's so sentimental and emotional.... the guitar intro... the amazing lyrics the melody....just fantastic.... It makes me feel so much sorrow when I hear it and a beautiful melancholy....I'm not crazy but that's what I like the most in this song...It causes such a complicated and deep feeling that I cannot really explain....So in love with this song....

    Try this:
The circle of hate, the circle of death, your circle of LIFE is the same.

General Comment:I'm going to go ahead and assume that I'm the only who's seen the 70's show, Circle of Fear. We can sit here and make up all of this symbolic stuff about the song, and some of it is, but most of it I think is about the pilot episode of Circle of Fear. check it out. Let me know if I'm wrong

First you have to save yourself

General Comment:It really seems to me like it's about a guy who's in love with a girl who's been through a hell of a lot. The guy, wanting to help, should first overcome the things holding him back so that he can do exactly what he wants to in order to help this girl and make her happy. "Circle of Fear" to me, refers to how we fear real love, the kind where we feel a relationship is possible to maintain and possibly end up with the person you love for life. Just my thoughts.

General Comment:The "circle" makes me think of the nine circles of hell. I can't find a connection between a circle of fear and the circles of hell yet, but maybe there is one. Anyone thinking the same?

To help anyone else, first you have to help yourself. Otherwise, you'll just be hiding your worries and your misery behind a mask. You have to be strong to be a saviour, but their "circle of fear is the same", so my guess is they're both equally afraid. Afraid of opening up and simply being happy because they got too used to the hurt they feel, which has become comforting.

Don't try to be strong for anyone else if you can't play that part 100% of the time.
