My fave song from Some Devil! This song offers so much hope...Even a ship in a bottle can find a way to set sail, even if it's just through a dream or someone else's actions.

i really like this one..hmm another wonderful song sung by dave.. yeah it does sound like something that could be for his kids.. but i think no matter your age, you can relate to this song in some way.

A great song about being determined with your dreams. Lately, I've been considering joing the Peace Corps. All I know is that I want to change the world for the better, in one way or another. However, I have a lot of skeptic people in my town. One of my teachers warned me that if my plans fail, I'll be left with no way to spend my life. This song actually helped to keep me sticking to my dreams. This song is beautiful, and Dave Matthews is a genius.

Like Butterfly, this song sounds like a lullaby and is 1 of my faves from Some Devil also. Dave puts such emotion into his songs but this 1 is particularly beautiful.

This reminds me of the Ben Folds song 'Still Fighting It' which he wrote to his son. They both seem to be about the fact that life can suck but its all part of the greater experience that life offers. Without the suffering we experience in life we wont be able to enjoy when we get to be on top of the world. Always have hope.

this song is about the utter incapability of mankind to create his own fate...he finds it. he doesnt create it.

this song is about the sovereignty of God..

all you can do is hope it all turns out ok..funny that dave expresses mankind as if he were in a nightmare and someday he'll wake up and find out he was just a puppet dangling on a string..

there is an illusion that religion teaches and it is that man has free will and he can operate outside Gods will.

thats the nightmare...he's really just a weakling. when he wakes up.

the person that dave is speaking to is told.
...just hope (dream) thats all we can do.

This song means a lot to me because recently I had to leave a job I really liked to move on to bigger and better things so it was bitter sweet and as i drove home on the last day i cried reading my goodbye card from everyone and was comforted by this song,the lyrics and music and everything,Dave is my hero!
