Lyrics for An' Another Thing as interpreted by SuperKind311

An' Another Thing Lyrics
Rain for me oh you but called me
It’s my broken heart just where you leave me
Now I say to you, “ooooh boy.”

Weight on my head
You won’t go up, oh
Weight on my head
Oooh ooh my babe...

Stay a minute just to hear you waitin’,
And no one confine her
Sweet and tender won’t you go out again?

Oh, rain on my head
Wouldn’t you
Rain on my head?
Oh, someone take off a
Weight all alone

Ahh, I met a girl recently.
All in a sudden, all a suddenly
Nobody deal for the woe of the world
Wait, all a sudden, all a suddenly
It will all would be, all would be over

Wait, come on rain on my head.
Water water!

Dates,
Many, many dates how you all die.

Oh rain money,
Grow a war at heart
And in the fire,
One out of a million.

.. wait a minute,
Touch your look on me
Denial, denial
Touch your work with me
Do not deny
Rain on my head
Rain on my head
Rain on my head
Rain on my head

This song is about meeting someone but losing them all in the same day. Refer to "Little Thing" On Luther College for the first part. An Another Thing seems to be a continuation or official release of the song, which is preluded by a story by Dave.

You know the "Rain on my head" part sounds a lot like from the part in "Dreams of Our Fathers"

this is a simple song about the woes of the world thats on daves shoulders. he tries to care, but little can be done.."rain" or water here is symbolic for the mercies of God..water symbolises the Holy Spirit.. he's crying out for a mercy from up above.. for himself and towards others..

You know, I've read a few "lyrics" online, and it seems like everyone interprets the song differently because nobody can understand him.

in the end of our thoughts, we desire with all our hopes to love others but we only conclude in this world it is impossible because of sin.
the commandments to love one another is impossible as human beings in the flesh. yet we still have within our spirit the hope of actually succeeding if only we were taken out of this world of sin. on one hand we have a spirit that desires to love and on the other hand we live in a body with its nature that cannot love one another. we are at a crossroad.

this is daves anthem and conclusion

the only place where dave can love others is within his spirit in his "heaven". once he comes "out" he finds it impossible for others to love him back.

daves songs are highly symbolic. the "fire", "rain" and "you wont go up" all tie together. a firmament was placed by God between heaven and earth (between the waters in genesis). symbolically, when we look up in the sky we see this firmament or seperator as a "lake of fire" we must pass through it to reach God. (remember the burning sword in eden) looking down from heaven the same firmament is seen symbolically as a crystal lake of water. thus daves idea of the two dancers or fire and water. "wont go up" is that every person must go to the house of God in heaven via Gods mountain. we look up the mountain and we see that it juts up into the sky of fire. the sentence "wont go up" is due to fear within us. we must die as we pass through the fire. the "rain on my head" is asking for mercy of dave to go fish in the crystal lake of water for his friends, hes desiring to express love from his spirit.

dave wants to be a fisher of men. its his internal desire of his spirit. the idea of getting wet is through the rain. dave is very complex because he uses key symbolic pictures..and there all found in the bible.

even though dave desires...nobody can love him back until they pass through the sky of fire but dave finds that "none will go up" through the fire.

think of fire as excited thought. a war of indiffering though when we renew our mind, on in a million pass through the fire and win the war in their mind.

although the majority today is that we fail going up and deny each other the love from our spirit from within us as we seek for it from each other...

it all highly complex and a scattering and wandering of daves wordsmithing..thats why he doesnt explain himself. you wouldnt accept his explainantion.

another way of looking at this symbolically is Dave and God are in heaven looking down into this crystal lake. Dave sees his friend in the lake and says "come up" out of the water. save yourself.

his friend begins to drown. Dave jumps into the crystal lake to save his friend. going down deep into the water and grabbing hold of his struggling friend, dave begins to surface.. he is saying to anyone, especially to God that the weight of water on his head is too great. take the waight off. let me come up to the surface. let me save my friend. he crys out for mercy. he is proving to God that he is willing to die for the friend.

thats daves idea of loving mankind.

in tripping billies. eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die is referred to not to having a good time. but to prepare oneself to die for another.

for that is the design God has for mankind.

to Die trying to save others. and this song is the spirit yearning to love another through the dying of oneself for the life of another.. its the internal struggle we have with the spirit within us towards others.

the pouring rain is so dense its much like diving into a lake of water where we find others struggling to swim. our desire is to save them by pulling them out of the water. but the rain continues and theres more people in the water struggling. the waight of the water seems impossible to overcome. resistance and the struggle to love..now throw in a few 100 billion people.

thats heaven. saving each (fish) person one at a time.
eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.

keep the "big door open" everyone will come around.
losing none. dave is highly symbolic.

Has anyone mentioned that the tune AND the melody including the "Rain on my head" lyrics are from the bridge of "Dreams of Our Fathers" off of Everyday?

There are some tunes that musicians use over and over...like Sting using the outtro from "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" by The Police over and over as the outtro to so many of his solo songs.

Ahhh, hadn't seen your post, Davematthew sgirl.

Not only does it sound like the part, it IS the part with slightly different lyrics. Musically verbatim, with a slightly different groove as well.

I would imagine that "Little Thing" was the first incarnation of it.

the "rain" portion of the song is a direct interpolation from "dreams of our fathers."
