General Comment:This song is about Nathan hating the sound of his own voice. The man is a Taoist, he likes using metaphors.

General Comment:Alright, i'm against all you freaks who think that these are "Nintendo-songs" where the band joked about it once, and are now smacking themselves in the face for ever having mentioned it, and if you've noticed in the album A Natural Death, he focuses on using books, instead of games, where yes, they do refer to games, but benderful is completely wrong, because they're the reverse of what you're saying, they're about him, and are coated with the metaphor of games he frequently played as a child. Ridenitro, pols voice is about his own voice, not the enemy Pols Voice, yes you're very clever to read the lyrics that way, and make the obvious connection to the game, but you're wrong. Very wrong.

General Comment:dean-ial is absolutely right. No song that references Nintendo characters are actually about them. If you know anything about HORSE, or Nathan's style of writing, you know it's literally all metaphoric. Nathan said himself that Cutsman was written due to a personal experience he had along with Pol's Voice, Birdo, and The House of Boo....and that none of those songs are actually about those characters. Why everyone is so stern on that fact? I do not know, but dean-ial knows what he's talking about and the people that didn't hear that "Nintenocore" was a complete joke by the band however long ago, just need to understand that none of the songs are about the characters....they're simply creative metaphors. I'll leave it at....please just deal with it and enjoy HORSE in the fact that they're the greatest and they're much more serious than most people will ever concieve them.

General Comment:So, dean-ial, you're saying that, even though HORSE the band has song titles such as Cutsman (Mega Man), Pol's Voice (Leged of Zelda), Big Blue Violence (F-Zero), Birdo (Nintendo), and House of Boo (Nintendo), references the movie The Wizard (which is all about Nintendo) in Cutsman, uses tunes from actual Nintendo games, and keyboardist Erik Engstrom uses a LSDJ Gameboy cartridge, the band has nothing to do with Nintendo...

General Comment:You still post anti-nintendo stuff after a year when I last read your comments. Pol's Voice is a fucking nintendo song, stop being such a prick, you're spamming under every song doesn't make it any less nintendo. Most of their songs aren't about nintedo stuff, but very few of which Pol's Voice and Cutsman are damnit. Cutsman isn't about a fucking kid they called Cutman. Stop listening to the damn music if it's so horrible, and stop posting on this site you worthless failure of life. (I had to get that out of me, as I have said in other topics, I read this guy's posts more than a year ago and just now decided to make a damn username).

General Comment:I am not a current or former member of HORSE the band, nor am I a friend or enemy of the band

I have talked to members of the band, and know people that WERE members of the band, but that's as far as my relation to them goes

I can assure you that the Cutman, Birdo and Pol's Voice references are entirely metaphorical and are only used as a description of people that the band knows

People act like this band was started to be all about Nintendo or some shit and that's just stupid, why would anyone outside of a chiptune or demoscene do that, it doesn't make sense

It's all over the place about how this is about this Nintendo game or this Nintendo character, and that simply isn't true, and it's a bit annoying

The only reason the band referred to themselves as 'Nintendocore' to begin with was because of a joke that had been made about the familiar sound that Erik was making with his keyboard, the band actually labeled themselves "Nerdcore" even before that

I am not an insider, I am just stating the all-too obvious, they're not a Nintendo tribute band, they're a band with a guy who plays keyboards that happen to use the some of the same waveforms as are commonly related to vintage gaming console soundchips

But now that Erik is using GameBoy sounds we'll just say that every song is about ExciteBike and that their new genre is GameBoycore and that we're all so hard on for GameBoy because HORSE the band writes songs about it

General Comment:^There's a boss called cutSman? please point me in his direction.

Also, you think most/probably ALL the songs allude to nintendo? You mean, 3? 3 out of 10 is not "almost all". You are a sad fool.

Dean-ial is probably the only person who gets all this.

    General Comment:dean-ial.

I won't go so far as to say what I think the band's deeper meaning for their references to characters from Nintendo games, but most of this album (if not all of it) reference Nintendo games. "Cutsman", for instance, is about the Boss character named Cutsman. Like the lyrics say, he is an android with scissors on his head.

Also, have you looked at Horse the Band's merch? they sell buttons with cutsman on it. The buttons name is Cutsman. Another button named Pol's Button features the very rabbit character from the original Legend of Zelda referenced in earlier comments.

Finally, I propose that you, dean-ial, are in fact a friend or perhaps a member of the band since I think it fits with what I gather is the bands collective personality. They seem to enjoy irony and irreverence can in my mind I could see them coming upon a message board and causing a ruckus. Or, perhaps you simply felt like channeling the band's personality in some fashion and felt like screwing around on a message board; a phenomenon that, as we all know, is frequent to the point of banality on the internets.
