There's poison in my drinking glass, don't stop just sip it down
And in a swirling masquerade of style my body hits the ground.
I'm beautiful when I'm asleep.
Martini kisses land on my blistered bloody scarlet lips.
The bottles in my hand.
Burn out, not fade away.
I'll speak in riddles so you can understand.
I'll draw in pencil so you can trace with pen.
So in love with me, like shaped you would be.
I'll write both our names into the wet concrete.
We're glistening like silver spoons, beneath the summer night.
Oh, can you smell the suttle winter frost as the flowers start to pry.
The autumn winds are bringing grapes to all the emerald trees.
They're so beautiful and dead, just make the colors slowly bleed.

General Comment:okay...most of these songs on this album are about how buddy wants his life to mean something...stand out from the rest, just like in "The Irony of Dying on Your Birthday". The "Burn out, not fade away" resembles how he wants to go...kinda like a fire cracker....it's amazing and gets your attention if its loud, quick and bright...
the second verse is to mean that all good things come to an end and the way the seasons do that is so beautiful, he wants his death to be just like it.
I'm pretty sure the chorus is the reaction to the media ..usually they go over famous peoples' lives and tell their story but might not be all accurate or it might be skewed hence " I'll draw in pencil so you can trace with pen" and his fans are the ones in love with him and he wants to be remembered forever like writing names in concrete. He writes his songs just like a poem, kinda like a riddle, so you can understand where he comes from and his views on life.
    the missing lyrics are
    *The pawns will fade away
    The king's at his checkmate
and I sit here with a sick grin choking as I life until I die*
PS this song is NOT about Cobain...morons...

General Comment:Way to attribute the line "It's better to burn out than to fade away" to Kurt Cobain. I love how everyone jump's on the bandwagon with that one.

That line is from Neil Young's song "My My Hey Hey", which was released a long fucking time before Kurt Cobain.

General Comment:"its kinda popish but i still like it with the little bit of screaming and the almost hardcore lyrics."

um first off, if you have fall out boy in you name then you can't really call this popish cuz senses fail is way more 'hardcore' then fall out boy. nothing against fob or you i'm just saying.

i dont think that this is actually about kurt cobain, i think that they are just referencing him and whoever originally wrote the quote, like they are just trying to say that they feel the same.

General Comment:i really dont thin this is about Cobain

Oh can you smell the subtle hint of frost
As the flowers start to cry

ok well this suggests the coming of winter

The autumn winds are bringing graves
    To all the emerald trees
They're so beautiful in their dismay
    The colors slowly bleed

i believe this is like from summer to autumn like when the trees turn from green to red, colour of blood!

winter is when everything dies away, slowly and all the colour on the leaves fade away and all the plants and life fades away and hes talking about how when he goes he wants to burn out, go with a bang, rather than fade away like the seasons do

General Comment:yes pretty sure this is about cobain. man what a great quote. even if it's not the exact words... its more of the same meaning he's trying to get out of it. like he feels the same way, maybe.

also, why would you bother saying anything if you dont like it? go home.

General Comment:You'll be a memory - i believe the quote 'better to burn out than to fade away' is by neil young, not whoever you said.

    good song tho.
