Lyrics for Celebrity as interpreted by neko-chan

Celebrity Lyrics
Don't call me a zero
I'm going to be a hero
Like Phil Esposito or the Kennedys
I'll be incorporated and I'll be imitated
And overrated but that dosen't bother me
All the jaws'll drop
And all the girls will scream
And there will be commotion when I show up on the scene
All that you will see is a celebrity
All that you will see is a celebrity

When I'm riding in my limo
I won't look out the window
Might make me homesick for humanity
There's nowhere that I can't go
And there's nobody I don't know
And there's an emptyness thats eating me
All the clocks will stop
And all the jeans will cream
It has always been my one and only dream
All that's left of me is my celebrity
All that's left of me is my celebrity

Leave your heart
Lay down your art
You're here for the party
Smile and wave
Try to behave
Be happy that they've
Made you a celebrity

I could disappear into the great unknown
And it would wear my face as if it were its own
And all that you will see is a celebrity
All that's left of me is my celebrity
I will get in first and I will get in free
All that's left of me is my celebrity

this song is about a nobody daydreaming about being famous like his favorite hockey player (Phil Esposito) or a world leader. he then goes on saying that he'll be recognized everywhere and everyone will want to be him. he thinks that he won't care that it's lonely at the top because he'll of achieved his dream. he then wraps up his dream career by suddely dissappearing and achieving immortality like Elvis (with the 'is he still alive?' factor)

Argh. Am I the only one who's sick to death of celebrities whining about how hard it is to be a celebrity? You've got your million dollars--and then some--like you asked for; just deal with it!

i don't think he's really complaining about being a celebrity because, despite the money and a large following, i wouldn't exactly call Stephen Paige and A-lister. I think it's more of a cynical take from the outside.
all the jeans will cream, ha.

gravity but its more then just whining. its about self realization. that you arent what you were. you are just a shell. People dont see you for your character or anything that matters. this guy is sick of it

FIRST:Alright, we all know how BNL likes to mock things right, so who's to say that they're not mocking the celebrities who complain about how hard it is. That's a stretch, and I don't think I really believe it.
OTHERWISE: He's saying that being a celebrity is changing who you are and potentially losing touch with what you stand for.
"Leave your heart
Lay down your art"
You're here for the party
Smile and wave
Try to behave
Be happy that they've
Made you a celebrity "
How celebrities aren't recognised so much for their craft (be it singing or acting or whatever else) as just for their general fame and socializing.

i think thed most telling line is "I could disappear into the great unknown. And it would wear my face as if it were its own"
that eventually celebreties become nothing more than there image and that they themselves are not nessasarily needed to keep up that image, like Elvis. But bnl definitiely does not think this about themselves. They're talking about the those who will let themselves be dominated by an image, like brittney or lohan, but in their true canadian fashion do not

It's about the celebrity experience. It's about how people do enjoy being celebrities, but it comes with a cost. In exchange for fame, he has had to give up freedoms and real contact with ordinary people. In the end, he has to "become the celebrity," by meeting people's expectations, doing what he's told. When you become a celebrity, people want you to act like a celebrity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 52 weeks a year, and he's got to smile, wave to the people,

The song also remarks that artists often lose their edge, their talent and their integrity, when offered large sums of cash.

In all, the meaning I take from this song, is that while it is good to be famous and rich and have connections, it's sucks to be a celebrity (which is different from being famous) because the public and the magazines hound you unfairly.
