Lyrics for As Your Voice Fades as interpreted by all_is_vanity

As Your Voice Fades Lyrics
somebody please tell me
what am I suppose to do
you died and i'm here
thinking that i hear your voice,
but it's somebody else
it's always somebody else
why did you die?
don't leave me please
i beg you God tonight bring me peace
i'll never sleep without the dreams of you alive here with me
the brightness left your eyes
as i held your face
don't tell me it's the right time
and your last words will sustain me
until my end...until i see you again
while words (your life) evade me (but a moment)
i'll wait to (i'll cling to) remember you (forever)
and what you had (your words) meant to me (on my blood)
could never be forgotten
the chains (why) of death (don't take)
are falling (away), but my heart still bleeds
it longs for (why) the day (did you die)
when we will be as one

Alfungo, if you would have read what I wrote right above you, you would realize that not all of us who think this song has religious implications say it is about Jesus dying. Just because a song is "christian" doesn't mean it is directly about God. A song could be "christian" and not mention Gods name or be about the bible. I would just have a view of the world that a Christian would have. This song is about a friend or family member of the singer dying, and he is trying to look to God for strength through all his pain. I think its pretty obvious this song is christian judging by the lyrics of this song and the fact that the members of emery are themselves christian.

everyone who says this is about anything to do with religion isan ignorant one-track minded fool.

first: 'Why did you die?'

why the hell would he ask that? its written down in paper why 'Jesus' died.

second: i beg you God tonight bring me peace

yes, they are religios, so he is asking god for help/guidence.

Thirdly: i'll never sleep without the dreams of you alive here with me

unless i'm mistaken the singer really wasnt cruising around with Jesus back in the day.

so to all you dumbass relgios freaks that think every freaken song ever written is about jesus, this one is DEFENATLY NOT.

This song is clearly about someone close to singer who died. The singer is now relying on God for encouragement and strength to make it through. I have a lot of respect for bands like Emery who are able to have such amazing, smart lyrics which aren't just blatantly obviously Christian, but definitely have Christian meaning when you actually think about them.

In response to all who say that this some has noting to do with God, I have one thing to say. They are a Christian band, yes they do have songs that might not be specifically about God, but I can guarantee that God is the ever present inspiration to all their music. Nothing that they write will be written without the influence of God in their lives. So maybe this one song is not specifically about God, but it is most definitely written for the glory of God.

lmao this song does not have anything to do with God other than the main character's close friend/family member/girlfriend has died and been taken away from him, and is now in God's hands.

That is the only thing that has to do with God in this song.
The ONLY thing. Sorry people. It's a girlfrend.

"why did you die?
don't leave me please
i beg you God tonight bring me peace"

"while words (your life) evade me (but a moment)
i'll wait to (i'll cling to) remember you (forever)
and what you had (your words) meant to me (on my blood)
could never be forgotten"

Those two parts give me goosebumps EVERY time, especially right after the opening.

Definitly NOT about god. Heres why
"don't leave me please"
If your christian shouldn't you know christ is always with you unless you deny him?

'until i see you again'
Point blank he never saw him. Dead give away.

Song is amazing none the less and the beauty of it (aside from just the pure feeling it puts in you) is you can interpret it anyway you want.

I agree with Atreyukidd on this...
I thought it might be about God too until
that whole "As I held your face" stuff.
Though it could be about God AND somebody
close to him that's died, like some have said.
One reason I'm leaning twards somebody close to him
is that he's praying to God to help him
with it so...yeah that's just what I'm thinking..

I agree with the whole science is just opinions

and I don't know were I stand on this song it very well could be about Christ but I find it hard to see it that way but I don't think its absurd to think a Chrstian band would write about Christ.

brokenstar57 is exactly right.
science is just opinions.
we can't prove it's true or not true.

however, we can prove that jesus was real and is the Christ.

i'm not going to go into details, because this isn't the place for that.

i think this song is about Christ dying because of these lines...

what am I suppose to do
you died and i'm here
thinking that i hear your voice,
but it's somebody else
it's always somebody else

i think he's commenting on how so many things in this world can sound so fulfilling and promising, but in reality they are just false lies.
i don't exactly know for sure, but that's one of many things i thought about for that part.

i do think it's all about God though.

weren't His last words, "it is finished" meaning that we have nothing to worry about, because Jesus died for our sins? That would make sense why "your last words will sustain me." It is the last words of Jesus that give us hope in the promises of the Lord.

also, "until I see you again" we may not have knowingly seen the Lord, but He says in the Bible that He saw us before we even existed and created us in the image of the Lord.

and..."everything can be proven by science...be realistic"

Actually, nothing can be proven by science. There is no such thing as a scientific fact, only Scientific theories, and a theory isn't proven, it just hasn't been disproven.

Can you scientifically prove to me, that unless you can scientifically prove somthing, it isn't real?

You can't scientifically prove that love exists, so does that mean that I don't really love my Mom? because YOU can't scientifically prove it?

alright...everyone needs to shut the hell up....and listen,,,this song i dont care what anyone says,,this song isnt only and directly towards God...why emery question about jesus dying "why did you die and leave me here"...they already know so why in the hell would they write about it...emery said personally they deal with elements in life not songs towards God..the only song on this album thats directed 2 god is "bloodless"....maybe toby didnt loose someone but he knows someone who went threw the situation and wrote it for them...."i beg you God tonight bring me peace, i'll never sleep without the dreams of you alive here with me"....

ok u see that is directed to God but doenst mean its about jesus....i feel as if this songs refers as someone questioning himself and God because he just lost someone threw death and doesnt know how to cope with it...so he questions God to help him...people need to stop looking at a damn simple line and trying to make it into something totally opposite...

its that fukin simple...for some reason i see it coming from someone whos in bed feeling theese emotions...something like "i miss you " by Blink...as in the title says "as your voice fades" msot people as God and go threw the situations at night.....so its from that prespective....

anyways this song bad ass..they closed with this one as an encore instead of walls.....WooOoooO

Science hans't proved that Jesus didn't existes but
science has proved that the theory of evolution to be absurd.
its easier to belive in God than to belive in evolution
but yet that has nothing to do with this song
this song is Not about God, yeah they are a christian band
thats why he is asking God to bring him peace
this is about a close relative/friend or something
an another thing
"why did you die"
well we all know that Jesus GAVE his life it wasn't Taken away from him..
"until my end...until i see you again"
again? no, he didnt saw Jesus, this line goes to someone
he had a physical relationship with
"and your last words will sustain me"
Cbrownie wrote about that above.
this isn't a worship band, its a rock band that happens to be formed by members who are all christians, yet Christ is the biggest influences and inspiration to all of us so yeah the songs have to be about the HIm

well, since I'm a Christian, I go with the people that say this song is about God and here's why. 1st, like many people have posted, Emery is a Christian band. Second, the lines that read...."the chains (why) of death (don't take) are falling (away)..." I don't think that anyone can take down the chain of death besides Jesus Christ(isn't there a Bible verse that says something along those lines?) and Atreyukidd...i know that he wasn't there holding God's face but he could be putting himself in that position and asking himself, how would I react if I were there when Christ died.... well, that's my take on it...

Im going to agree with some of you here. This song could be about god, until one point threw me off:

"the brightness left your eyes
as i held your face
don't tell me it's the right time
and your last words will sustain me
until my end...until i see you again"

This one part makes me think it was about a family member close friend, or girlfriend because. The brightness left your eyes as i held your face, im sorry, i know theyre christian, but i doubt he was holding God face before he died and watched the brightness leave his eyes. And the second part, once again, i doubt he was there when god died in order for god to tell him his last words, and also, when will i see you again? Just think logically about that, im not trying to bash your christian beliefs and this songs ties to god, but, think logically.

Well, im just gonna post what I think this song is about
****

I think this song is about loosing someone close to you, and being in a state of regret. The person who has lost the partner is starting to panic without his/her companion, and is looking towards God for help.

Well, im just a kid who listens to music every day, and even reads the lyrics 100 times over untill i totally feel for a song. But im pretty sure the song -could possible- be based among what i just said.

Peace out.

toallofyou...Science still hasnt proven that Jesus didnt exist, and wait, I dont think science has proven that Jesus didnt die on the cross either. He was a real person, and he did die on the cross for YOU, and everyone else. A lot of the Word was written by people who were close to Jesus when he was living. I dont know if you know this, but Science has proven that energy cannot be created or destroyed...how did we get here then? Anyway, I think this song is about Christ. Take the song as you may, its your choice, just as believing in Jesus is your choice. Make your own decision
