This song is obviously about dealing with the death of someone close to you. I heard Emery for the first time in my life, and they played this song to start their set. It totally blew me away! I bought the cd at the show and havent stopped listening since. These guys kick ass

nicklay...well your sorta right...this song is actually about christ and his death, basically he is singing about his imperfect relation with christ and how he can't wait to be in heaven where his relationship will be made perfect

I don't know where you got the death of christ from...
"I held your face"? "Your last words will sustain me"?
We'ren't christ's last words "into your hands i commend myself"? I think its a personal death. ALso, he references his death alot. "untill my end.. untill i see you again... when we will be as one..." Maybe he is thinking about his own death? Maybe the griefe is too much and he wants to die.

for one, joshisapunk, Emery is a christian band, and if youre going to post against christianity about this band even though they are heavily influenced by christ, go to a different band. Because, these lyrics are about Him.

I stand behind joshisapunk. It's not crazy to believe that a Christian band has the capacity to write about something other than god or christianity. Is god the only influence in a reiligious person's life? It's pretty closed minded to automatically come to such an unsound conclusion and justifying it by saying "they're a christian band. Christian bands sing about god."

while i do belive that this song is actully singing about a close person in his life that has died, i also think joshisapunk should read the lyrics of course people are going to find religous ties to a song by a christian band that says "I beg you God tonight to bring me peace"

If you believe in religion and chrsit you know this can mean either christ or friends/family . you will all be ''one'' and all are one .. Its symbolic .

Christian bands dont always just sing about god . They have songs about life and the other elements of it .

dude thank you for arguing, haha it made my day....and i think this song is about someone dying and him wanting to be with her again, "until my end...until i see you again"- he's saying that he wont see her again until his end (he dies) its really not that hard of a concept....

Just because it says "God please help me" does not make it automatically christian or religous either. You forget, that "God" has become a word, not a person in our society. The band Alkaline Trio has a song saying something along the lines of "God help me" and they're highley satanic.

First of all, this song could be about God. Emery is a Christian band and that's the first clue. I'm not saying it's definitely about God or anything but there is a serious possibility.

I, personally, think it's directed towards God. But take it however you like.

toallofyou...Science still hasnt proven that Jesus didnt exist, and wait, I dont think science has proven that Jesus didnt die on the cross either. He was a real person, and he did die on the cross for YOU, and everyone else. A lot of the Word was written by people who were close to Jesus when he was living. I dont know if you know this, but Science has proven that energy cannot be created or destroyed...how did we get here then? Anyway, I think this song is about Christ. Take the song as you may, its your choice, just as believing in Jesus is your choice. Make your own decision

I think this song is about loosing someone close to you, and being in a state of regret. The person who has lost the partner is starting to panic without his/her companion, and is looking towards God for help.

Well, im just a kid who listens to music every day, and even reads the lyrics 100 times over untill i totally feel for a song. But im pretty sure the song -could possible- be based among what i just said.

Im going to agree with some of you here. This song could be about god, until one point threw me off:

This one part makes me think it was about a family member close friend, or girlfriend because. The brightness left your eyes as i held your face, im sorry, i know theyre christian, but i doubt he was holding God face before he died and watched the brightness leave his eyes. And the second part, once again, i doubt he was there when god died in order for god to tell him his last words, and also, when will i see you again? Just think logically about that, im not trying to bash your christian beliefs and this songs ties to god, but, think logically.

well, since I'm a Christian, I go with the people that say this song is about God and here's why. 1st, like many people have posted, Emery is a Christian band. Second, the lines that read...."the chains (why) of death (don't take) are falling (away)..." I don't think that anyone can take down the chain of death besides Jesus Christ(isn't there a Bible verse that says something along those lines?) and Atreyukidd...i know that he wasn't there holding God's face but he could be putting himself in that position and asking himself, how would I react if I were there when Christ died.... well, that's my take on it...
