Lyrics for Bloodless as interpreted by all_is_vanity

Bloodless Lyrics
take me (far from all that's wrong)
let these (fears collapse inside)
take me (back to when I)
believed

and as a little boy they tried to hide his eyes
with reeds and rituals
the paper and the knife
but fire will always burn through skin and forgery
and answer when you won't
the bloodless hands of fear

he didn't know he was hungry

someone had a knife and took away my eyes

the last time is right know
this choice will take or make everything
your face is fading out

wash those days from your eyes
and let them fall away
drown the fear that own

he felt the wake of torrid days
ushered through by warm mistakes
suddenly his broken feet
took their rest on bended knee

the last time is right know
this choice will take or make everything
your face is fading out

i won't stand here
this dance won't stop the music
your promise will help me lead untill the end

what words have you to say (if this is the last time I won't forget you)
before we spill (exhale the last breath, tear down the statues)
this blood (this scar will remain here to mark where we severed)
this time you will be afraid (my life from your hands)
you have lost me
your plan failed (your hands from my heart)

this is the last time

a lot of this song seems to be about religion stifling (sp?) true spirituallity. but that is just how i am interpreting the first verse there i could be off. later on it seems to be about becoming broken, very common spritually to help bring us closer to God.
i'm kinda confused about the last verse, im not really sure who he is talking to here.

like omg. no way.

If you don't like hearing other people's point of views about a song, maybe you shouldn't come onto a site about sharing song meanings?

I think the song's about being in an akward stage of life and he just wants to go back to when everything was easy and he had more faith.

To me its about a kid being forced into religion, and his eyes being covered from the outside world, "and as a little boy they tried to hide his eyes with reeds and rituals" As though his parents didn't want to risk him deciding against it. And the choice that he has to make is wether to believe or not, "the last time is right know
this choice will take or make everything" Ofcourse he chooses to believe, "suddenly his broken feet
took their rest on bended knee" It just seems to fit to me, i dunno, what do you guys think? Actually, it may be the opposite, his parents hiding him from Religion, but he was drawn towards it "you have lost me
your plan failed" Im not sure..

At first I would have agreed with the above comment, but as I spent more time reading the song I developed a different idea.
To me, the song seems to be about a person who was kept sheltered from Christ for most of his life ("and as a little boy they tried to hide his eyes / with reeds and rituals, " "he didn't know he was hungry") but eventually got to a point of despair where he found himself on his knees calling out and believing ("he felt the wake of torrid days / ushered through by warm mistakes / suddenly his broken feet took their rest on bended knee")
The rest of the song seems to be expressing some difficult choice the subject is making to leave someone that has been influential in his life.
I realize some people may not think this song is religiously themed, but Emery is a Christian band and I believe the "bended knees" and "take me back to when I believed" lines point strongly toward such a theme.

I completely agree with "To the Core". As a friend of a member of this band...I agree with that analysis of the song.

A lot of you guys must not know this is a Christian band. Don't you think it would make a lot of sense if at least one of there songs was about Christ? Every time I come here looking at Emery lyrics I see someone screaming about how these songs have nothing to do with God. What is wrong with you people?

I agree with you ninja..dude...Emery IS a Christian band so it would probably make pretty good sense if one or two of the songs was about..oh i dunno....Christianity..?...Religion?? But as it is, I'm Christian/Mormon. When the song says "He didn't know he was hungry" I take it as when people are like...spiritually hungry. I think this song is about a young boy wanting to be back where he was, believing.
When it says:
"he felt the wake of torrid days
ushered through by warm mistakes
suddenly his broken feet
took their rest on bended knee"
It seems like he's realized that he's been doing
wrong and is wanting to do better....repent if you will?
I hope that didn't sound inappropriate, but that's
what I get out of this song. It's gotta be one of my
favorites by Emery.
PEACE

Just one more thing:
"Wash those days from your eyes
and let them fall away
drown the fear."
Like repenting and forgetting about all your mistakes. Letting the past go and coming clean, starting over

The meaning, I see, has been taken care of, so I won't worry about that.
But, I have to say, you idiots that are so hardened toward hearing other people's thoughts and/or beliefs get the hell out of here, because no one wants to put up with you and your crap.
Emery is a christian band, so if anyone has a problem with that and is in denial, go dig a hole and lie in it. Find music that fits your taste. This awesome band is not going to change just because some insignificant jerk says songs pertaining to christianity suck.

Yes, they are a Christian band. So yes, it DOES make sense that 1 or 2, mayb even 3 of their songs are directed towards Christ and/or Christianity. But in every single song that I click on this site, every SINGLE song, there are like 20 people in the comments trying to pass off some retardedly-christian-themed meaning and morals onto the song.
It doesn't matter which song, apparently to the majority of the people in here, every single song Emery sings is about worshipping God.

Emery is not a worship band. They just happen to all be Christian and believe in Christ. Not every single one of their songs is about believing in God. Is this one? Honestly I don't know. In fact I think you guys are probably right on this one being christian-related. So congratulations.

Emery makes a lottt of really fantastic songs, but, sorry to burst all you God-loving people's bubbles, only some are actually directed towards God/Christianity.

Hey, no offense but the people on this comment board stating that it is pretty much insane to even THINK that songs BY a CHRISTIAN band are God related, WHY? I just dont understand why you're in such denial. Emery IS a Christian band. No they're not a praise band but they don't have to be. I'm personally in a Christian Rock band myself and no not all of our songs are praising straight to God but ALL of them are teaching the word of God whether they're about how to get through sexual temptation/ depression/ anger/ or just staying away from sin and asking for forgiveness so its not hard to believe Emery doesn't do the same. And after reading almost all of Emery's beautiful lyrics I've came to a realization that most of their songs are about getting through sexual temptation (this one isnt the case though). Which is a thing all Christians have a very hard time to get through. By writing those type of songs is a way of serving God because they are spreading around that premarrital (sp?) sex is bad. AND I've never seen a bad message come from an Emery song so honestly it wouldn't be hard for 20 or more people to pass off "some retardedly-christian-themed meaning/moral" to a Christian band's song.

We look at this site to find deeper menings to a song but as soon as someone mentions God in a meaning it has to be wrong. C'mon people lets think outside the box and put our personal beliefs aside. Its almost like if i looked up a song by Slayer and said i dont think this song has anything to deal with sex drugs or violence (bad analogy i know). No one on this site has tried to push their beliefs down anyones throats, we are all just expressing our ideas on this thing. And everyone has their right to believe in what they want. Just don't get on a Christian band's song and totally deny the fact that it is Christian. alright im done.

All in all this song is awesome... God bless :)

songs like scripture have different meaning for different ppl.

maybe the song is a mix between alot of yall's views. maybe it's someone who has had religion forced upon them, not christianity. to use a quote from the book "Lord save us from your followers" so many ppl have faith in the bible, instead of God. they're too focused rules and religion and RITUALS, they forget the main thing Jesus came to teach us, and that was to love each other. so many ppl cast judgement and damnation onto ppl. it just turns ppl away from god. thats not christian. Jesus came to love. but so many of us are too worried about following all the rules that we forget what it's all about...

im getting sick of people who look at a christian band and get mad at christian interpritations of lyrics i mean sure every song doesnt have to be about god but I dont really think its to abstract to interprete a christian bands lyrics as christian if people cant accept it don't look at other peoples opinions.

I am going to have to agree with (shevanel) that it is annoying when I come up with a meaning behind the song lyrics then someone comes and says its about God...BUT I accept other veiws...but I'm not religous so I carry on with the way I see the song...and I prefer looking at it that way, since it means more to me than it would if it was about God or something religous related. So I think peeps should be happy the way they see the meaning of the song and accept that other people may see different. So Yeah. And also Punkgitardude no offense to you either but Emery is NOT a Christian band...but they are simply christian people that formed a band. They refuse to be labled as a christian band. Just thought I'd say.

The only songs that i have heard by them that i would say have an undenniable christian interpretation are not simply to God. The other besides this one is "Listening to freddy mercury." go listen to it.

This song is about a boy growing up in the church. As young children often are in churches, he was taught that "Jesus loves me" is the answer to all our problems. He was never taught why we do things just that if we don't we can't go to heaven. As he get's older and real life sets in he realizes while all these things may make you feel good, the feelings are only temporary. Life is still there and what he was taught as a child is not enough to help him through the problems in his world. He begins to question what he believes (which I think is good for everyone of every religion to do. I'd say it's almost essential to be able to really believe, blind faith is not faith at all). He begins to wish he could go back to the simplicity of religion he had as a child (ignorance is bliss). But he's come to far and can't go back, not knowing what he knows now.
