You said forever) the singer is saying that his significant other said i want to spend my life with you forever. and the singer trusted him/her in my case her cause this is the exact same thing im going through right now she said she was going to spend her life with me and i took for granted that it would be cause the relationship was so perfect but then things all the sudden change and we realize to not take things for granted. it scares me to think that you could find takers
other than me and better than me the singer is scared of her finding someone else.
I will wait for you forever
if you would just ask me. this is so true cause i would wait for her no matter what i will never lose faith that we will get back together i pray every night to be the best person i can be.
bottom line this song is pure beauty

Well to me emery is an amazing band. and lyricaly this song is a masterpiece and definitly dosent get enough credit. The song is obviosly about a guy whos been dumped. and he still loves her but he cant be with her. So hes crushed. but since he cant be with her he choses someone else. but it dosent feel right. He feels as though hes nothing without her. and he wants her back but he cant have her. so this night is done.

There has never been or ever will be a song that so perfectly portrays an image of a broken heart like this song does. This song flawlessly describes the indescribable feeling of having your heart broken, and the sad realization that the relationship is done. This is as emo as emo gets.

The acoustic version is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It always makes me cry.

he's confused about the way things ended with someone. he isn't ready to move on "it doesn't feel right holding someone else's hand"
he can't stand the thought of her with someone else. but she seems to be moved on and done with it. "but your head is elsewhere, and i'm doing enough talking for both of us"
he's hanging on to something that isn't there.
good song. i love emery.

I nearly go looney every time I hear this song! It's just... amazing.

I love how he's dying to love her and be with her. It's so admirable. Yeah, I know, I'm crazy. But how loyal he seems to be just makes me looney. :D

dude, I saw emery this week, and though I'm already a huge fan it def. took my respect level up several notches. They played this song there...and the part where Devon sings "I never thought that you could say these words, is this really happening?" was absolutely incredible. And, to copy everyone else, I too can relate to this song, a LOT.

This is a great, but depressing song. Obviously about relations that have fallen apart. I'd rank it as 3rd most depressing song, behind the whiskey lullaby and dear angel

I love this song by Emery. It is so amazing. I especialy love the acoustic version. If Im ever able to learn how to play the guitar, I want to learn to play this!

But yes, this song has so much meaning to me. A once close friend of mine actually introduced me to Emery, when we got together while my boyfriend and I were "broken up" or "on a break", idk. But anyways, I can so relate this song to my relationship to that one good friend I use to have... I listen to it now and cant help but want to cry just thinking of him...

Its a horrible long and depressing story.

Love this song, love the band, 'nuff said. The song is pretty self-explanatory, but the lyrics are so creative and just come together extremely well. I think that is what I appreciate most about this band.

The best song ever!!! the lyrics, the music, the way they sing alternating voices!!!! it's a perfect way to show a feeling!!!! definitely a beautiful song about a heartbreaking!!!! too hard, too hard...but it happens all the time in many lives!!!

I think we all know what this song means. All versions I've heard are just beautiful, especially the piano version from the Question deluxe edition. This song puts into words exactly how I felt after my last relationship fell apart. Thank you Emery for such an amazing song!
