This is one of my favorite Emery songs. when he sings:

isn't that how it is though? you can not believe you are getting broken up with and just don't hurt me and tell me we can be friends....

I think this song is talking about going through the stages of breakin up. The guy is just waiting till she comes to her senses and he just waits for her to realize and is losing sleep and such. she could find someone better then him and that scares him. they say everything is getting better but it doesn't it just gets worst. she is thinking of someone else or something else. she breaks up with him and he is just crushed and broken. and i could go on forever and ever about this song. here are some thoughts take it for what its worth.

its seems that the first part of the song it is a guy yearning for his vermin to come back to him, but the last 2 lines are as though he realizes what will never be so he gives up. just like real life

My fav. lines are "it doesn't feel right holding someone else's hand" and "it scares me to think that you could find takers other than me better than me" and demnil your probably right. But I can't think of a better subject than the most amount of of pain most of us will ever feel. That is the loss of a loved one because sometimes even if they are still alive their dead to us and it hurts.

The song is about a guy going out with a girl, but this guy is thinking about a normal realtionship where two people share a common "love" for each other and he comes to the dramitic realization, after staying up for three nights, that this isn't the way a normal relationship should function. He tries and tries to make things work but she doesnt seem to care: "your so good at taking your time to get back to me". And then he puzzles together the situation and realizes that maybe this girl is interested in someone else (who hasn't seen this scenario played out) but he is still trying to make things work: "your head is elsewhere and im talking enough for both of us". He then identifies that they've talked about this before: "i thought that you said things were improving" but it still seems she's "carless", "insulting", and "brusing". He pours his heart out to her and she doesn't care. Then comes the break up. The last part just grieving, all the "why's" and "how could you's"

I just say Emery last weekend and this is what they had to say about this song:

"This song is about getting a tour manager from California... and you don't know how things are going to work out, but you end up falling in love with him"

Obviously it's not really about a tour manager. Unless of couse the band members are into group-homosexual relationships with people they are professionally involved with. haha. I mean, who holds hands with their tour manager... I guess this is just an example the demonstrates how you should not always take what people say on stage (or even in there songs on occasion) literally... He probably mean to say "This song is for our tour manager from California."

This is a song about a man fighting a losing battle to win back the girl he never really had and realizing he just has to give up. But that we can't be friends part is the best. You can be friends with an ex-girlfriend. But not one you loved this much. You can't make someone love you.

i love the phrase:

we all know what it feels to be heartbroken. the guy is going through uneasiness while the girl he likes is looking at someone else. i really love this song and relate to it alot. the lyrics explain everything.

This is creepy. Wow, getting some chills. Been here...

I think it is about a girl who left a guy. He thought every was going great and then she just up and left him. Now he is struggling to move on and he can't fight the feelings he has for her. He thought she felt the same way he did about their love when she said it would be forever, and that they would always be together. As it turns out she didn't feel that way (she lied, sorry ladies) and now he is left with nothing. He never planned anything outside of a life with her and now that she is gone all he has is emptiness.

This line verse:

"It scares me to think that you could find takers
other than me and better than me
but your head is elsewhere
and I'm talking enough for both of us
when will you see it's not so easy for me"

shows that she doesn't have any problem moving on, even rubbing her new love in his face at times. He is forcing himself to find closure with this

THE acoustic versions are both beautiful..one on the EP and the other on the nAIL Dvd.i like the on the DVD better...TOBy hits the high note "dont say that we can still be friennnnnndssss" better here,,,,this song is really self explanitory.

Oh my God...there's an acoustic version of this!? I have to get it. I love Emery, and I love acoustic songs...so you put the two together, and you can only guess what happens after that.
