I'm weak when you miss me
When you roll me on your tongue
When you whisper me your best moves
I almost believe you
But you don't know me at all

I'm covered by lovers
Who recite lines
Convinced that their bodies
Are gonna save mine
But you don't know me at all

Show me where the sun comes through the sky
I'll show you where the rain gets in
And I'll show you hurricanes
And the way that summer fades
Underneath the weight of it all

I spend days stupid
Nailed to your floor
And I spent nights pushed against you
Trying to keep warm
But you don't know me at all

Show me where the sun comes through the sky
I'll show you where the rain gets in
And I'll show you hurricanes
And the way that summer fades
Underneath the weight of it all

To me, this song details a previous relationship that didn't work out, but is also talking about a relationship that is just starting. Even though he wants this new relationship to work out, it looks as though he's still going to end up giving too much to his new significant other.

"show me where the sun comes through the sky" and then i'll show you all of these other wonderful things, but he still isn't getting what he needs . . .

I think this song is explaining how one begins to feel after having suffered many painful heartbreaks. whether it was from multiple people or just one person. I think its showing what a person becomes after having been used over and over by a person or people. "I'm weak when you miss me, when you roll me on your tongue" meaning that when you are so consumed by someone you will let them walk all over you when they need to. "you whisper me your best moves, and i almost believe you" explains that through the lies this person is telling you, you are so compelled to believe them that you let yourself, but deep down you still know they are misleading you.. "i'm covered by lovers, who recite lines convinced their bodies are gonna save mine but you don't know me at all.." I think this verse explains that this person who is hurting you will constantly say whatever it takes for you to do what they want or need, but still never taking you into consideration.

The chorus is absolutely amazing, "show me where the sun comes through the sky, i'll show you where the rain gets in and i'll show you hurricanes, and the way the summer fades, underneath the weight of it all" such beautiful lyrics but such a sad undertone. I relate to this because to me the chorus is showing how broken this person is, that underneath "the weight of it all" no sun is shining, that the summer is irrelevant because the rain always comes through to bring you down. the rain being the person who hurts you "i spent days stupid nailed to your floor and i spent nights pushed against you trying to keep warm but you don't know me at all" i think this verse explains the sacrifices one makes for another when that other person needs you, but they arent there for you at all. that no matter how much you give of yourself, this one person will never know you, or even try to . I know this sounds all too depressing but this song explains perfectly a much too long relationship I carried on with someone. The song brings me to tears everytime I hear it. Its truly beautiful.

Old relationships left him feeling bitter and negative about love. He's talking about new girls who have fallen for him and they are caught up in a whirlwind romance. Meanwhile, he's basically saying that though you're happy now (the sun), he knows it isn't everlasting (the rain). So what's the point?

I guess he's just heartbroken. Everyone feels this way at some point.

matt is awesome, great guy, amazing live, this song is about a relationship thats not working out, the girl points out the positive things in the relationship ("show me where the sun comes through the sky") and the guy points out whats wrong with the relationship and why they should break it off ("ill show you where the rain gets in")...thats all i feel like typing...it seems like every song matt sings is my life in brief...

well he's talking about one girl in general who he really fell for then got heartbroken so here:

i'm covered by lovers, who recite lines convinced their bodies are gonna save mine but you don't know me at all..

he is talking about all the girls he's been with since the one who broke his heart and he tries to get over her by having sex with other girls but it doesn't work.

show me where the sun comes through the sky i'll show you where the rain gets in and i'll show you hurricanes and they way that summer fades underneath the weight of it all

that's about him wanting to go back to the first girl and all that they could do for eachother

i think its a relationship thats not mutual between them. one person really cares about the other and is really opening up, but the others really apathetic about the whole situation and doesnt wanna get too close to the other

I relate this to having an insensitive, selfish lover. the song starts with "I'm weak when you miss me" because the narrator really wants the person in their lives permanently. "When you whisper me your best moves, I almost believe you..." because the lover is manipulative, using false promises to get what they want. And the narrator knows that it's all false "But you don't know me at all."

"Covered by lovers..." I take to mean that because this lover being sung about is not always around, the narrator tries to move on, while others try to make them happy. But all the singer can focus on is "But YOU don't know me at all."

The chorus explains a lot about the song. This person is feeling repressed, with all the talk of rain and hurricanes, underneath the weight of it all, while the other person - while living selfishly - sees only sunlight.

"I spent days stupid, nailed to your floor..." I take to mean that regardless of how their lover treated them, the narrator remained standing there, taking everything. "Nights pushed against you, tryin' to keep warm..." I think is self-explanatory. But their lover doesn't take the time to know them, regardless of what they're doing for them.

Summer means nothing when dealing with a selfish lover.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
