You sounded so good on the phone
All moved up and all moved on
Me and gravity, we never could agree
But I can almost see the sky
When I need to, I close me eyes
You're the only thing that's worth holding on to

Angel you sing about beautiful things
And all I want to do is believe
But I traded my dreams for this mess of memories
And they just stopped working for me

Now I'm not a monster
I believe like a liar would believe
Helps me navigate the wooden smiles, the raging seas
And all my heroes pull their heads
Like a fighter would, I guess
No one ever really likes getting older

Angel you sing about beautiful things
And all I want to do is believe
But I traded my dreams for this mess of memories
And they just stopped working for me

Lyric Correction:Correction to my earlier correction:

You sounded so good on the phone,
All moved up and all moved on.
Me and gravity, we never could agree.
I can almost see the sky.
When I need to, I close my eyes.
You're the only thing that's worth holding on to.

Angel, you sing about beautiful things,
And all I want to do is believe.
But I traded my dreams for this mass of memories,
And they just stopped working for me.

    I'm not a monster I believe,
    Like a liar would believe,
Helps me navigate the wooden smiles, the raging sea.
All my heroes pull their heads,
Like a fighter would I guess.
No one ever really likes getting older.

Angel, you sing about beautiful things,
And all I want to do is believe.
But I traded my dreams for this mass of memories,
And they just stopped working for me.

He talks to her again after a while, shes moved on her her life
hes trying to move up too but gravity brings him down
he can remember everything when he closes his eyes, like the calm of looking into the sky
she was the only one worth holding onto.

"angel you sing about beautiful things
and all I want to do is believe
I traded my dreams for this mess of memories
and they just stoped working for me"

she says beautiful things but they're lies, all he wants to do is believe,
but he moves on, trading his dreams of a future, for memories because he cant take it.
but everything stops working for him.

    "I'm not a monster I believe
    like a liar would believe
helps me navigate the wooden smiles, the raging sea
all my heroes pull their heads
like a fighter would I guess
no one really ever likes getting older"

he thinks he did the right thing, unlike wat a liar (her) would beleive
and he stopped talking to her to help navigate wooden smiles r fake smiles, raging seas im guessing is inner turmoil
heros pulling heads i see as friends wondering why hes stuck over her
no one really ever likes getting older, growing up, being hurt.

i relate this song a lot to my ex who's name was angel and i broke up w because i couldnt take it.
    a beautiful song.

General Comment:He stalking to some one he used to be with. The have moved on. He can go along with life anymoer, he cant even agree with gravity.

'I can almost see the sky
when I need to close my eyes'

he is looking at the sky when hes not supposed, to , like he is looking back at his memories with her when he should be moving on and closing his eyes to the past and forgeting it for now

'you're the only thing that's worth holding on to'

The only girl he ever really wanted at all

'angel you sing about beautiful things
and all I want to do is believe
I traded my dreams for this mess of memories
and they just stoped working for me'
Its abotu how the girl talked about her dreams, and he believed in them, and he gave away his own dreams to be with her. He had a plan for his life, but when he met her he forget to live by that plan, and he traded those dreams for a mess of memories with her. Or it could be the other way around, like he traded his dreams of being with her for a life apart from her and those new memories of this life without her just stopped working for him.

    I'm not a monster I believe

'no one really ever likes getting older'

    raw truth

General Comment:I love this song so much. It is very simple but wow...it makes me very emotional. I think it is about someone talking to his ex on the phone and she sounds really good and she has everything together. He just can't move "up and on" because "he and gravity" couldn't agree. Gravity is just pulling him down.

This couple broke up, but he never really gave up on her. He prevented himself from moving on because he had the hope that they would one day get back together and he s just not ready to let go.

He sacrificed so many things for her, but she has moved on and he is finally realizing it. "I traded my dreams for this mess of memories and they just stoped working for me"

I don't really get the monster part, but the getting older part...he is realizing that time has passed, they are both older and it is time for him to move on. It is not worth giving up everything and putting his life on hold for this girl who is not going to change her mind and come back to him. She has moved on.
