HIM is the best band ever. and this just backs this up. since this is song meanings. this song well means that love (love between ppl) is what kills relationships. it makes no sense but ville is saying how you shouldn't get too involved with someone because if u do, when it ends ur gonna feel like u've just been killed. verse 1 is saying how the girl will be the one trying to make everything work and the man is gonna get hurt emotionaly. verse 2 the grl is solving the problem that would lead 2 a breakup (troubles and fears) and the man doesn't really care.

"she was the sun shining upon the tomb of your hopes and dreams" is implying to me that 'he' has had his hopes and dreams killed before and that 'she' is about to make it happen again, "she was the wind, carrying in all the troubles and fears you for years tried to forget" is implying he had tried to forget the troubles and fears associated with being in love, but she brought it all back. love is the funeral of hearts, because love usually ends up with a broken heart. it's yet another HIM song about the futility of life/love. love can quite often be a gun separating two people, think romeo and juliet.

yeah ,but it was a dagger or sword (and poison) that seperated Romeo and Juliet, not a gun! but anyway, back to the subject! this song always made me cry because it was the song that was on in the background when my (ex)boyfriend dumped me, so it literally was the Funeral Of (my) Heart!

I guess while I am here I should post my interpretation of the song, so: I think he is talking about gettign cheated on and how ultimately she isn't happy with the other guy either. Not that it really matters...

Ville Valo has said that he doesn't believe in God and he has his doubts about God... Ville was on the border of becoming a Satanist. He was approached by Satanic ministers to come over to their faith, but decided not too because he just couldn't find it in himself to believe in that stuff. But he doesn't really believe in God and he doesn't really think Jesus existed. He says that people who do aren't stupid but aren't necessairily intelligent. I hope that answers your question for the most part... anyways... I like this song. I think he says it all right in the very beginning. "Love's the funeral of hearts," Love's always going to break your heart.. no matter how long you ago your heart was broken.. no matter how happy you think you are... it will always somehow separate you and remind you of a broken heart... at least that's what it means to me....

i personally kno valo, and i asked him if he was religious, and he said no, when he was little he did go church and all that, but as time when i he just stoped, he was never very religious. and an added note, valo wrote this song in 20 mins. while drunk. now u got to admit this guys gots skill!

How come nobody has corrected the lyrics yet?
It's not "Pray to God who's deaf and blind" but "A prayer to a god who's deaf and blind" I know it's not much of a difference.
Also it's not "The last night's, the soul's on fire" but "The last rites for souls on fire".
That was that. And yeah, this song is really great and so is the video ^_^

I saw HIM last night at Irving Plaza, soooo amazing. Valo was saying how this is such a great song for ballroom dancing.. he was so shitfaced he forgot some lyrics, gave a girl the mic so she could finish the song, and spent the rest of the song dancing on the stage... haha so fucking good.
