You held my hand and walked me home, I know
While you gave me that kiss you were something like this
It made me go, oh, oh
You wiped my tears got rid of all my fears
Why did you have to go?
Guess it wasn't enough to take up some of my love
Guys are so hard to trust

Did I not tell you that I'm not like that
Girl, the one who gives it all away, yeah?

Did you think that I was gonna give it up to you this time?
Did you think that it was somethin' I was gonna do and cry?
Don't try to tell me what to do
Don't try to tell me what to say
You're better off that way

Don't think that your charm
And the fact that your arm is now around my neck
Will get you in my pants, I'll have to kick your ass
And make you never forget
I'm gonna ask you to stop thought I liked you a lot
But I'm really upset (really upset)
Get outta my head, get off of my bed
Yeah, that's what I said

Did I not tell you that I'm not like that
Girl, the one who throws it all away?

Did you think that I was gonna give it up to you this time?
Did you think that it was somethin' I was gonna do and cry?
Don't try to tell me what to do
Don't try to tell me what to say
You're better off that way

This guilt trip that you put me on won't mess me up
I've done no wrong
Any thoughts of you and me have gone away

Did you think that I was gonna give it up to you this time?
Did you think that it was somethin' I was gonna do and cry?
Don't try to tell me what to do
Don't try to tell me what to say
You're better off that way, yeah (better off that way)
I'm better off alone anyway

    My Opinion

I think this is one of the best songs Avrile has written(though I do have some other favorites). What I admire most is her depiction of the kind of girl who is so rare to find these days. Someone who knows what she's worth and won't sacrifice her principles or moral for some stud. She knows what love is and she hasn't got it. So she knows to stay away from the dumb prick. I admire her courage and will and her determination to be by herself until she can find someone true. Wish there were more people like that in the world.

But then again, if wishes were wings, pigs would fly.

the lengths people like em2000 will go to , to bash a singer that the wagon hoppers bash .

this is seriously starting to get pathetic .an opinion is one thing but ego stroking is another .sad.

I love this song. It's about a guy pressuring her to have sex, and her refusing, and the guy leaving cause all he wanted was sex. I really love this song. Girls are giving up their virginity waaayyyy to soon. Like seriously, twelve years old and having sex? I want to punch those girls. :l I'm not one of those "Wait to your married" kind of people, but seriously, why are you having sex when you're still a kid? (Btw, I'm only thirteen, and I'm not even close to being that stupid)

    My Interpretation

For me this is about this girl, she's got a boy, and she's all happy with him but suddenly she sees this boy just wanna... you know. Then she says "go to hell" and the realtionship ends, maybe she kinda regrets but then realizes it's better to be alone than with some horny pig.

I like her music 'cause seems like Avril said what a lot of girls wanted to but anyone dared to. I'm a boy and the girls I know are mostly pretenciois, bitches, or shy, or into something sad or dark. Girl if fell in the lie just learn and wait for someone nice. Love from Guatemala. - Jose

you're sayin SHE's an embarassment to canadians? at least she is tryin to make a POSITIVE diffence in her own way, doesnt mean you hafta agree but u dont hafta act like an asshole! anyway i think this song is about her boyfriend that she thought really cared about her but then he pressured her to have sex, and shes sayin i thought i already made it clear that i didnt want that but i guess you just hafta go! too bad, i kinda liked you! lol but thats my take. im not a huge fan of Avril but shes pretty good and her music is catchy, but has n e one else noticed that she is very bitter towards males??>>could be sum underlying issue there..???

Avril Lavigne, as cliché as it sounds, is my role model. She’s always stuck up for what she believes in, and she's never let anyone push her around, especially of the male persuasion. Her music shaped me into the girl I am. I know that sounds kind of dumb to state, but me, not having a female to kind of pave something there for me to look at as an example makes her music mean a lot in that way. I’ve turned down a lot of guys who I’m happy that I did because frankly, now that I look at it, I would have been dumb if I didn’t. That’s obvious when I look back on it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
