The glove compartment isn't accurately named
And everybody knows it.
So I'm proposing a swift orderly change.
Cause behind its door there's nothing to keep my fingers warm
And all I find are souvenirs from better times
Before the gleam of your taillights fading east
To find yourself a better life.
I was searching for some legal document
As the rain beat down on the hood
When I stumbled upon pictures I tried to forget
And that's how this idea was drilled into my head
Cause it's too important
To stay the way it's been
There's no blame for how our love did slowly fade
And now that it's gone it's like it wasn't there at all
And here I rest where disappointment and regret collide
Lying awake at night
There's no blame for how our love did slowly fade
And now that it's gone it's like it wasn't there at all
And here I rest where disappointment and regret collide
Lying awake at night (up all night)
When I'm lying awake at night
And everybody knows it.
So I'm proposing a swift orderly change.
Cause behind its door there's nothing to keep my fingers warm
And all I find are souvenirs from better times
Before the gleam of your taillights fading east
To find yourself a better life.

Lying awake at night
There's no blame for how our love did slowly fade
And now that it's gone it's like it wasn't there at all
And here I rest where disappointment and regret collide
Lying awake at night (up all night)
When I'm lying awake at night

ive always loved it, and it has STRONG personal meaning for me.
i agree with everyone who has stated that they believe it is about getting pulled over and seeking a legal document for an officer.. hints the name Title and registration.. and he found a bunch of memories of an ex love or whatever the case was..
There's no blame for how our love did slowly fade
And now that it's gone, it's like it wasn't there at all
And here I rest where disappointment and regret collide
Lying awake at night..
^^^ one of the best lines ever.. my favorite.
i want to hear this song the whole time, and think about my fading love.
that is all i can think about when i hear this song, and it makes me sad and scared and hopeful that maybe if i do leave, i will be happy, and missed.
They always have good lyrics though.
and he got pulled over by a police officer.
he went to pull out his title and registration
but instead he pulled out old pictures of him and his former love.
pretty much what the lyrics said.
