I think what the song is about is the guy is telling the girl he wants to break up because he just dosent see it going anywhere and it looks like theyre never gonna work it out.

Emotions can be all over the place!! this song is very powerful, impacting, also liberating. It's a tough and courageous decision to let something burn even though it brings you pain. To let go of someone is so difficult. I love this song so much.
