Lyrics for As The Palaces Burn as interpreted by reck_666

As The Palaces Burn Lyrics
The fiends have gagged a generation of pacified fools
Bound by our greed a nation enslaved as corporate tools.
Arise and race the legacy of their lies
To realize that this in itself is an ascension
Towards the day we revolt.
As the seeds you've cast away take hold
War will be born.
Rejoice, the age of the fall has begun
We'll dance as the palaces burn.
A shot gun blast into the face of deceit
You'll gain your just reward.
We'll not rest until the purge is complete
You will reap what you've sown.
My redemption lies in your demise.
In such a world as this does one dare to think for himself?
The paradox of power and peace will destroy itself
To know the truth and live in fear of no man.
To realize that this in itself is an ascension
Toward the day we revolt.
As the seeds you've cast away take hold
War will be born.
Rejoice, the age of the fall has begun
We'll dance as the palaces burn.
My redemption lies in your demise.
Rejoice, the age of the fall has begun.
We'll dance as the palaces burn.

It's the war on terror. I'm not sure but I think he wants the Middle East to lose. "We'll dance as the palaces burn." Sweet. Very well written. Lamb Of God is cool.

How are they saying they want the middle east to lose? Since when was the war on terror supposed to be a war on the middle east?

Lamb of God are VERY anti-Bush. Every day on the Ozzfest tour Randy (singer) wore an anti-Bush shirt. I don't think he's talking about the war on terror in general, just Iraq and the U.S. going to war on "lies" and trying to build new nations. Hence "We'll dance as the palaces burn", he's referring to the palaces of dictators and such.

I don't know if they're really talking about dictators, i think it's more general, just the wealthy ruling class, taking back power from anyone who has it.

"Remember that better lives have been lived in the margins, locked in the prisons and lost on the gallows than have ever been enshrined in palaces." Just felt that was appropriate.

I think Randy Blithe is talking about how the American people are too scared to acknowledge that American foreign policy is wrong, because they would also have to acknowledge that the state of opulence that America lives in, (compared to the places they bomb on a daily basis) is paid for with blood money and that they each in some way have blood on their hands.

Randy is saying that it is time for the American people to open their eyes and take action.

I don't think it's just about foreign policy, I agree with your interpretation and I think that's a part of it, but i think it's more about the society as a whole than just a specific aspect of it.

I agree with shadowwiththeeyes , I think Randy is talking about the social climate in America right now and how the cloud of fear that the Bush administration has created, has allowed them to hold sway over the kind of totalitarian dictatorship, last seem during the Nazi regime.

The 3 most important lines, as far as the understanding of this song, (as far as I am concerened) are as follows:

"The fiends have gagged a generation of pacified fools" - The American government has pacified a nation, in a way, last seem within the pages of George Orwell's "1984". The slaughter of 11/09/01 has proved all the justification, needed, for the powers that be, to take a leaping shit on the the US constitution, robbing the United States citizens of the rights that had been affored them, sinse their country was founded, with un-constitutional horse shit, like the Patriot Act (who's very name implies that to not freely relinquish your liberties is to some how spit on the graves of the founding fathers).

And:

"The paradox of power and peace will destroy itself" - The US holds an iron fist ove the rest of the world. Like it or not, America is, (in the words of Bill Hicks) "the Evil Empire". America only remains the dominant force, by pissing on the U.N Charter, in ways that have seen lesser countries atomized. The Citizens of Amerca, live in peace, because the people of other countries, lose limbs on a daily basis. America remains unchecked, simply because there in no country or union of States on earth that could possibly pose a threat to it.

And Finally:

"As the seeds you've cast away take hold" - The average Joes (discarded seeds) of the US are not going to stand for the kind of horse shit, that George Bush passes for "patriotism", for much longer, America has become the most hated county in the world, based on the foreign policies of one man.

I guess what Randy Blithe is saying is that there is only so long that you can beat me down, piss on me and deny my existance and kill people in my name, before I (I being meaning the USA as a collective) snap and fight back.

Bah, lets not get political here. I'm all for Bush but I'm a huge Lamb of God fan (Got the poster signed by all of em and the new cd signed at ozzfest 2004 NC !!) I think the song is about how the country is full of those who conform to a belief instead of thinking for themselves. This would include both those for AND against bush. What Randy wants you to do is think for yourself, thats the point. War will always continue as long as someone has the power to creat violence.

i agree with you somewhat, but the true source of war is something far more primal. War is caused by the violence you say? in that case you must say to yourself, what causes violence? simple, as long as somebody else has something that somebody else wants, and the person that wants it has the means to take it, he will. Basically, war is caused by people wanting something that somebody else has, instead of simply sharing, it is taken by force

All I know is that Randy is very anti-establishment, and he does a damn good job of letting everyone know. Lamb of God is bad ass!

I kind of look at this song as an anarchy song. not a 100% anarchy but it definetly leans towards anarchy. its awsome. "We'll dance as the palaces burn." when we revolt against the government.

Just a guess, but I think it's about rebelling against the government. Not everyone of their songs is anti-bush.

i dont know how people can be 'all for bush', i dont jum p on the bandwagon of 'fuck bush' but you do realise the usa has killed more people than terrorism ever has. - on the song it is political, i agree with the majority about it being about the bringing down of the present goverment in the us, on the other hand it is just a general rebbelion song; see vigil

It's too bad most people that listen to this type of music are so goddamn stupid. The lyrics are saying that this country (America) is corrupt regime with the vast majority of it's citizens oblivious to the governments unjust and illegal actions. They also say that a total revolution (purge) is necessary to correct these problems.

"It's the war on terror. I'm not sure but I think he wants the Middle East to lose. "We'll dance as the palaces burn." Sweet. Very well written. Lamb Of God is cool." what do you mean "to lose"??? acctually you point at a weak point, it isn't a war against terror, it is an racistic war for imperialism. but i surely believe bush wants the middel east "to lose" :P

this song is about the revolution. this is a song about us americans revolting and taking back our governments, it couldn't be more clear.

"The fiends have gagged a generation of pacified fools
Bound by our greed a nation enslaved as corporate tools.
Arise and race the legacy of their lies
To realize that this in itself is an ascension
Towards the day we revolt."

"As the seeds you've cast away take hold
War will be born.
Rejoice, the age of the fall has begun
We'll dance as the palaces burn"

he even says "towards the day we revolt" and the part about "as the seeds you've cast away take hold, WAR WILL BE BORN" its war against the government, which is why he says 'the age of the fall has begun, we'll dance as the palaces burn". its saying that are bullshit government is done fucking with us because we're taking it back, so we'll celebrate (hence, dance) as the 'palaces' burn. this song fucking rules by the way, i get fucking amped everytime i hear it and i just want to go give bush a big FUCK YOU.
