Lyrics for 11th Hour as interpreted by reck_666

11th Hour Lyrics
The hour of wreckoning draws near
Judgment day is here and gone
Sweetly she draws me into her arms
A liquid embrace to chase the day way.
Sedate Numb Deaf and Dumb
Stumbling into solitude.
A clouded judgment day is fueled.
Take me under your black wings
Mark my words and remember me.
So sweetly she shucks away at my time
So sweetly she draws me nigh
Closer and closer towards never ending sleep
Spin the bottle
Kiss only the bottle.
The dark mistress of many, beholden to none
Slips a ring of needles around your arm in an engagement
Eternal engagement
Never consummated.
Take me under your black wings
Mark my words and remember me.
Destroyer of senses.
So take as needed for the pain
Another gray morning dawns across an ashen sky.
My sweet demoness beckons me
Ever again and again and again and again.
The dark mistress of many, beholden to none
My sweet demoness beckons me
Ever again and again and again and again and again.
Take me under your black wings.
Jacked up on the taste of self-destruction.

Metallica has been, and forever will be, one of the greatest metal bands ever.

It's about how they lost friends in the war, and they're drinking to the ones that were lost. put one and to together, even when they play live Randy says "Cheers Motherfuckers" you present a toast unless you're drinking to something.

Honestly...Metallica is pretty much dead now. All the good shit is their old shit..their new stuff kinda just bombed out hardcore into the ground. But enough about my opinion, this song I believe is all about drinking. Randy is a extreme alcoholic and in this song he is singing about the pain that the world has given him and the only way to get rid of it is to drink as much as humanly possible.

a song, just like any symbol from a poem or book can have many different meanings, just as 'predisposition' quoted from maynard... The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 was the end of WWI. Thus, the war theme enters. The 11th hour is also a reference to procrastinating, pushing the limits of time even. Therefore drug/alcohol abuse appears in the sense that it can hurt or kill you. And, like the writer of the song said - which, like it or not, enivitably knows what his (or her where applicable) symbols and/or imagery mean - states it is about alcohol. Great song. Peace.

Hm, well I think it's about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (it's easier to figure out if you've seen the music video. Here: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=2012166635)

It's about a Veteran that's abusing Alcohol and nicotine to escape from reality.

a vote for alcohol. "a liquid embrace to chase the day away" "dark mistress of many beholden to none" "sedate numbk, deaf and dumb" "spin the bottle kiss only the bottle" "destroyer of senses" "take as needed for the pain" metaphors just pile up. Incredible piece of work, Randy is my fucking hero!!! Heroin is a good one but I think the references to the bottle kind of rule that out.

Obviously the song is about alcholism, pratically every lyric is a reference to it. As for the video, its basically about how the former soldier is unable to cope, and succumbs to the bottle for solace. Why else do people become addicts? To drink your problems, troubles away...

Anyone think it could be a double meaning..or one that you interpret to mean whatever.
I think it could hold the meaning about the alcoholism, I heard that the first time I heard this song, and when I heard it again, watching the video and seeing the war in Iraq images you can see other meanings in the song. As well as the "end of the world" theme. Also, don't think it has been officially announced, but most LoG fans will be able to notice that Randy has had problems, especially with alcohol, so this helps make it more a more obvious meaning. I have no idea where the "heroin" theory comes in. The "sweet demoness/she" is a metaphor for the alcohol, the "stumbling" and "clouded judgement" etc are effects of the alcohol.

It does remind me of Dimera (As someone said) love that song, is my ringtone =]
I just got my lamb of god tattoo :D it says "never wanted your acceptance, never wanted your approval, never wanted to be anything but me" =] YAY
Love this song, was the first LoG song I heard when it was released, As the Palaces Burn being the first album I bought, have been hooked ever since.

Anddd to "passionate music" Not all the band are alcoholoics, Randy is the only one who appears to have a problem with alcohol, yes the rest of the band drink and get drunk, but thats part of being in a band on the road having fun. Chris says the early days were fueled by Black Label, Beer and Kerosene fumes. There is a comma after label. They named the song (on New American Gospel) after Johnnie Walkers Black Label Whiskey, NOT beer. Most bands say their early albums/demos/eps etc were fueled on alcohol, because it was the time of being at college, having fun drinking while you get it done. It wouldnt always even be in a official recording studio so there would be no rules about drinking, also if they did in in say a garage, college dorm room they can do WHATEVER.

I think this song might be about the narrator finding out that the world has already ended, and that he has actually been living in Hell for quite some time now. He finds out that the punishment he is enduring in Hell is being tormented by a woman, a succubus, a femme fatale over and over again for all eternity.
