Lyrics for 11th Hour as interpreted by reck_666

11th Hour Lyrics
The hour of wreckoning draws near
Judgment day is here and gone
Sweetly she draws me into her arms
A liquid embrace to chase the day way.
Sedate Numb Deaf and Dumb
Stumbling into solitude.
A clouded judgment day is fueled.
Take me under your black wings
Mark my words and remember me.
So sweetly she shucks away at my time
So sweetly she draws me nigh
Closer and closer towards never ending sleep
Spin the bottle
Kiss only the bottle.
The dark mistress of many, beholden to none
Slips a ring of needles around your arm in an engagement
Eternal engagement
Never consummated.
Take me under your black wings
Mark my words and remember me.
Destroyer of senses.
So take as needed for the pain
Another gray morning dawns across an ashen sky.
My sweet demoness beckons me
Ever again and again and again and again.
The dark mistress of many, beholden to none
My sweet demoness beckons me
Ever again and again and again and again and again.
Take me under your black wings.
Jacked up on the taste of self-destruction.

I saw them in L.A. He said the songs about drinking. "A liquid embrace to chase the day away" and "Destroyer of senses" are clues to that.

man this fucking metalcore bullshit sucks major ass.
i keep on hearing about how these guys are bringing back "an old school metal sound" but its B.S. and that singer needs to spit out that cock he's choking on before he tries to sing. growling out vocals and sounding like your taking a shit don't make you heavy, and the singer needs to realize that. and when he sings he needs to learn not to drown out the whole fucking song, i swear its like you can't even hear the guitars. what the fuck is up with that?

i'm not trying to start any arguments here i'm just saying what i think of Lamb of God. so just keep that in mind. and it doesn't matter to me because it's just one more band i won't listen to.

No it's not about the end of the world, if you watch the music video it's about the iraq war. Read the lyrics with metaphors in kind and you should be able to see the relations.

I suppose the line "Slips a ring of needles around your arm in an engagement" kind of lends it to the idea that he is singing about heroin I guess...

This song is clearly about using alcohol as an escape. I guess it could be about heroin but it makes more sense that he's talking about drinking his problems away.

the song totally lends itself to the belief that it's about alcohol, as for masterofpuppet's comment, i disagree, lamb of god's sound is completely different from metalcore. and it's quite refreshing to have such aggression from a metal band, something i think that has been lacking in recent years

Have any of you guys heard "Dimera" by 'Burn the priest' (Before they changed their name to lamb of god)? It kind of sounds like a beta version of this song, in that, it also talks about alcohol as almost a living entity and it uses some of the same lyrics.

masterofpuppets obviously has no clue what metalcore is/about, he's just riding the anti-whatever-has-the-word-core-in-it trend and more hating an entire genre he knows jack shit about just on principle.... he'd then know that LOG arent metalcore contrary to popular belief, as metalcore = a hybrid of metal and hardcore obviously. there is less than 5% hardcore in LOG's sound. they are a pure (no frills) modern american thrash/death band with their own style, and they do what they do well.

Seriously guys. Read the lyrics and then watch the video. I think one person got it correct. This song is about the war in Iraq and how they lost close friends in the war. It sounds like they are against the war. Take me under your black wings
Mark my words and remember me.
Yeah someone died.
A clouded judgment day is fueled.
I think that means Bush is getting us rallied up to go into this war that we have no idea about. Think about it. Read the lyrics and watch the video.

about the video...
these guys just like to bitch and moan about george bush so they threw in as much anti-bush shit as they could...
the dude in the video was drinking and they needed to have something other than some loser sitting on his chair drinking so they decided to toss in some propaganda as well
its simply about alcohol
all the lyrics point to it and i think he even said it

Like Maynard said, all songs have 2 and 3 different meanings. There is the literal and easy to find meaning and then the metaphorical meaning. I think that its about both the end of the world and drinking, because if your life is all fucked up from alcohol, then it may seem like the end of the world. A few lines suggest and allusion to Jesus and Christianity. "a ring of needles", "Sedate Numb Deaf and Dumb", the "liquid embrace" could be refering to the wine/"blood of christ" that catholics drink at mass. But more than anything this song seems to be about alcohol, it seems to be the biggest theme.
