I'll be coming home
Just to be alone
'Cause I know you're not there
And I know you don't care
I can hardly wait to leave this place

No matter how hard I try
You're never satisfied
This is not a home
I think I'm better off alone

You always disappear
Even when you're here
This is not my home
I think I'm better off alone
Home, this house is not a home

By the time you come home
I'm already stoned
You turn off the tv
And you scream at me
I can hardly wait
'Til you get off my case

No matter how hard I try
You're never satisfied
This is not a home
I think I'm better off alone

You always disappear
Even when you're here
This is not my home
I think I'm better off alone
Home, this house is not a home

This house is not a home
I'm better off alone

Song Meaning:According to Adam: This song is about being stuck at home with nothing to do. Suddenly you've treated badly or anything. Or might be pushed around your parents. something like that.

General Comment:Overcontrolling Wife/Girfriend. No freedom. And from these lyrics I kind of get the parent/child meaning.

General Comment:When I first listened to the album, this was the first song that caught my attention. It reminds me of my home sort of.

My mom committed suicide when I was ten. Then I had to go live with my dad in Pa when my whole family was in NY. He always expects me to PERFECT. He keeps saying a bunch of bullshit about "I have to be better than him" when I grow up. He doesn't mean a better life. He means PERFECT! It's just not fair at all. He sets his expectations for me at IMPOSSIBLE. So when I come "home" from school every day, it's hell.

General Comment:I kinda think that this song is like so many from the One X album in that it can have more than one interpretation. For example some people see Gone Forever as a song about someone who is pleased to have a particular person out of his life, and for others it's about someone who is glad to be off drugs/drink ect. Other people even see this song as someone who is secretly regretting losing one of those things. However I do think that basically the message in this song is that the person isn't happy about the situation that they are in. Adam seems to be inferring that the guy has relationship trouble with his partner but I also kinda think that the 'you' within the song could be a number of other things and could even be seen in subjective terms, in that the 'you' is actually the individual in question and that he's at war with himself. However the best interpretation that I can find is that the song is about a teenager rebelling against his parents. The sole reason that I like this interpretation is that it's the one that I can best identify with. There's a reason that this is probably my favourite Three Days Grace song and that is merely the line 'this house is not a home' because for me that is one of the only truths in my life.
