  General Comment:but I think with the repetition of "A long time ago, we used to be friends" there's still a bit of bitterness felt in the singer

  My Interpretation:when I read the title I would have thought it's about someone reminiscing about and missing a friend (maybe a lover?) .. something of that sort
  
  but I think it's totally about (with that apathetic too cool for school voice especially) someone who ends things bitterly with a friend, but decides to be cool about it. The friend wants to make things up eventually "Or you called me up \ Maybe I wasn't home" but he's honestly forgotten about this person. This would be a big ouch to the ex-friend. "If ever again a greeting I send to you, short and sweet ("to the soul I intend?" or "It's all I intend?)" .. meaning if I happen to exchange something with you some time in passing, I promise there's nothing more to it.

  General Comment:my interpretation...
  this song is about bitterness when someone destroys a friendship to be with new friends
  but the new friends are the type who WILL sell that person down the river, its just a short matter of time.
  you know the friend is going to miss you, and in your head you say "just remember me when" (because you want nothing to do with them ever again)

  My Opinion:like many others who commented first, i first heard this song on veronica mars. love the song and how it fits perfectly as the show's theme song. i don't know about you guys but veronica mars is a great show. and so is this song.

  General Comment:I think It's about that awkward moment when you bump into someone you deliberately stopped being friends with a couple of years earlier--
  Will you be able to focus on the positive because it is in the past or say "bring it on"? I think he takes the positive route because he sounds nostalgic and the song is upbeat.

  General Comment:This was the song I was singing when my friend ditched me and from then on we weren't speaking to each other anymore and so I DEDICATE THIS SONG TO THAT BITCH She should be glad cause I got this amazing song dedicated for her.
