Lyrics for The Science of Selling Yourself Short as interpreted by almostmanda

The Science of Selling Yourself Short Lyrics
I've come to my senses,
That I've become senseless,
I could give you lessons on how to ruin your friendships,
Every last conviction, I smoked them all away,
I drank my frustrations down the drain, out of the way,
So I sit and wait and wonder,
"Does anyone else feel like me?"
Someone so tired of their routines and disappearing self-esteems,

[Chorus:]
I'll sing along,
Yeah with every emergency,
Just sing along,
I'm the king of catastrophies,
I'm so far gone,
That deep down inside I think it's fine by me,
I'm my own worst enemy

I could be an expert on co-dependency,
I could write the best book on underage tragedy,
I've been spending my time at the local liquor store,
I've been sleeping nightly on my best friends kitchen floor,
So I sit and wait and wonder,
"Does anyone else feel like me?"
I'm so over dosed on apathy burnt out on sympathy

[Chorus]

Let the meaning slip away
Lost my faith in another day,
Self deprication seems okay,
I never thought I'd make it anyway

[Chorus]

I'm my own worst enemy [x5]

Why hasn't anyone commented on this song yet?! This is definitely one of the best Less Than Jake songs, in my opinion. I love Rogers voice.

This is a really good song. The meaning isn't really hidden, just simply about depression and feeling like you're doing everything wrong.
I think we've all felt just like this before, so its really to relate to.

You can listen to this song and relate to everything he's saying, and probably even remember a time that all of it happened to you, but since the song is so upbeat, it makes everything feel a little bit better. Get yourself a joint, listen to this song, and watch the problems melt away.

LTJ write alot about being in a teenage state of mind, and this is a great example. both the lyrics and the laid-backness of the music give the message "i cant do nothing right, but so what?!"

definately the best song by less than jake. i love the upbeat sound to it, and yet the lyrics are so negative at the same time. i just can't believe nobody else has commented on it much?

That I've become senseless those lins alone were enough to get me hooked on the band that would prolby shape who i am! like most people i have a gateway less than jake song and this is defintly it. year on i own all the less than jake albums and i noticed that this song still stands out from pretty much any other song and if your posting stuff like ohh this song rocks and its soo cool n shit read the lyrics proply its fucking sad song with a deep meaning. it rocks but its not like some happy song like jony quest or somthin

Hell yeah! This was THE song that got me into Less Than Jake too. I love the video too. It's just an incredibly simple song! Especially the chorus.

one of the best LTJ songs, the way the music is jusxtaposed to the lyrics makes you wonder how you should react to it. but its definitly an apathy song and im a teenager so i gotta love it! "just sing along..."

This is probably the last album where less than jake sounded good. This song still sounds like a good classic song. After this album, their 2003 was pretty generic and boring bad pop-punk.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? This IS less than jake's latest album (besides b is for b-sides, but that doesn't really count as an album), and it came out in 2004. 2003 comes after 2004...?? How about you get the slightest idea of what you're talking about before posting worthless comments.

I love this song especially the brass instruements. It does have obvious meaning to it. It goes to the core of codependency and senless actions from use of liqour.

It's something anyone can relate to. I love the fact that the music is so upbeat and catchy yet the lyrics are so depressing. its sketchy! but cool ^_^

This was THE song that made me get into less than jake. This song is everything a teenager feels. What makes the song so great has to be the upbeat melody...and yet the lyrics scream of hopelessness. Like putting on a mask to cover up your own insecurties-which is exactly what teenagers do. I'm seeing LTJ in april...if it wasn't for this song I wouldn't be.

if this is the song that "got you into LTJ" or if you think this is one of their best songs...you need to take a little trip in time to their earlier stuff, their new albums have been utter shite lately, this song isnt bad, but theres so much better out there, so get clued. and blink and new found glory arent punk for those of you who think they are

Im listening to this now. And its so good.
I mean like its how i feel most of the time. How alot of people feel i bet. The upbeat tune represents me smiling through it when inside im saying things like the lyrics say. Upbeat but negative at the same time.

Its perfect.

i dunno it's easy to relate to in a certain mood. it reminds me of how i am with school...i guess i'm fucked, but somehow i'll end up fine. socially, well i never felt like this song but i see how others could.
but i know that "i've come to my senses, and i've become senseless"
this song and "Malt Liquor Tastes Better When You've Got Problems" make me feel similarly.
