I heard a word from on high
Glare like a light in the sky it said
"quit blowing each other up"
A voicing so crystalline clear so
Somethings unclear in your ear
When only blood will fill your cup

Hello I'm trying to focus
But my eyes deceive me
Focus I'm witnessing history, repeating

It fell like a tear from my eye
Flying machine so up high well,
There goes the neighborgood
A scene set to singe innocence
Up heave unhinge and pit against
Like every made for TV should

Hello I'm trying to focus
But my eyes deceive me
Focus I'm witnessing history, repeating

Focus

We are
We know
We see
We think
For you

The who
The what
The when
The where
The why

We build your young
We built you too
Wee see you all

Hello I'm trying to focus
But my eyes deceive me
Focus I'm witnessing history, repeating

General Comment:this song is about 911. the part where he refers to "fell like a tear from my eye flying machine so up high. well there goes the nieghborhood. he is referring to the twin towers. in the next verse where he says " a scene set to since innocence upheave and pit against" this is reffering to it being a false flag attqck like the gulf of tonkin incident that started vietnam or hitlers riestag fire. these things are done intentionally to start wars. This is what he means by "history repeating". brandon has alot of anti establishment themes in his music like "out from under" or "idiot box". if you do not share my view i understand. With the knowledge i have this is what i believe this song is about. please take time google or youtube a movie called loose change if you want to learn more about 911. or freedom to facism (unrelated but eye opening)

Song Meaning:This song perfectly conveys the emotional response to Sept. 11. You can hear the frustration, confusion, sadness, hope and hopelessness in Brandon's voice throughout the song.

"It fell like a tear from my eye. Flying machines so up high, well there goes the neighborhood. A scene set to singe innocence: upheave, unhinge, and pit against. Like every made for T.V. movie should"
I believe that directly refers to the airplanes crashing into the towers that day. But, you have to remember that this is coming from Incubus, and it definitely screams anti-war. Witnessing history repeating refers to any other events that are convenient to the government agenda.

Some skeptics dare say that the events could have been prevented. Whether or not that's true, the government obviously capitalized on the situation. Without this attack, a lot of the conviction for our country, for revenge would not have existed. Would not have allowed us to follow so willingly into a situation that most seemed to oppose prior. And that now seem as though we entered under false pretenses. (we still haven't found those Weapons of Mass Destruction)

It seems to me in most Incubus songs is not so much political as it is humanitarian. The whole situation is unbelievable. "quit blowing each other up" is more of a thought That we as human beings can do this repeatedly to one another and that it can be allowed, overlooked, and manipulated by the powers that be.

But, that's the point of the Made for T.V. Movie, it 'thinks for you' if you allow it.

General Comment:I believe this song is talking about how the media only lets you see what they want you to see in order to sway your opinions.

I'm reminded of a No Use For A Name song 'Countdown'-"Newspaper headlines do tell us what is right or what is wrong? I want to know exactly what the fuck is going on. The media has built a fortress all around our open minds, will I see it broken down before I lay down and die"

I feel like that is the message Incubus is trying to get across. That we have been made to think a certain way according to what we have seen, which may or may not be the entire truth. We only get snippets of reality and only the pieces that they want us to hear/see.

General Comment:damn this song is so good! Brandon's vocals are amazing and the lyrics of course. At first I didn't like the album that much, but then I listened to the lyrics and found out that the whole thing is pretty much amazing

    General Comment:Dear adamBFOW!
I think that it has NOTHING to do with 9.11... Honestly... Some Americans (and I really emphasize SOME) are so full of themselves...okay, Pearl Harbour and 9.11, yes, i know those were hard periods in the life of the USA, but for God's sake, that is NOTHING compared to what happened in some other countries throughout history...Try to learn more about the world and history...and this song is especially for you, adamBFOW, someone who is so driven by the media and can't think for himself. 911 was really unexpected and painful, but it wasn't the shock of my life! The media made it so big, but when there are thousands dying in Africa each day for example, because they have nothing to eat, then this is just nonsense... You have everything you want and everything you need, you don't even understand what's going on in the world, what's it like to not eat for days...and this is just one example. Wake up, you're not the only country on earth, and not the only one that has to go through difficult things! And retaliation is exactly what the song is about, that people should never be driven by aggression. It will never get you anywhere.

General Comment:I must say I really like Zythe's out look on this song. It makes perfect sence, but I dont know if I take it that way. I deffinitly take this song as an Anti-war song, but I think its more of wake up, here it is type of thing. But I REALLY really like how Zythe has sold this song. It made me think a little.

General Comment:To me it sounds like God's talking about mankind having gone wrong. I'm not even the religious type but the lines just seem to say that it's about the world going wrong.

"I heard a word from on high / Clear like a light in the sky / It said, "Quit blowing each other up"" Essenitally he's in a peaceful state of mind and this powerful voice is telling him that people shouldn't be at war.

"The voice seemed so crystally clear / Some things are clean in your ear / When only blood fills your cup" saying that the voice is ethereal, transcendent.

"Hello / I'm trying to focus, but my eyes decieve me / Focus / I'm witnessing history repeating" it's sort of a tongue-in-cheek message from God. He's watching world history repeat, outside time.

"We are, we know, we see, we think for you / The who, the what, the when, the where, the why / We build your hill, we build you too, we see you" means we made you, stop fighting.

I don't think Brandon believes in God as such, I read he has a more spiritual belief in "the feminine energy" inside of him but I think this is what it soubded like when I tried to listen to the words.

General Comment:this is about how the media portrays everything and how that because of this we are living in a state of fear and we shouldn't have to live like this should we?
