Lyrics for Death To Everyone as interpreted by sarahsavedlatin

Death To Everyone Lyrics
i am here
right here
where God puts non asunder
and you
in black dress & black shoe
you do
invite me under
go on
go there
you can see me aging
stars turn
balls burn
coming kids are raging

death to everyone
is gonna come
and it makes hosing
much more fun

every terrible thing
is a relief
even months on end
buried in grief
are easy, light times
which have to end
with the coming
of your death friend

death to everyone
is gonna come
and it makes hosing
much more fun

so strap me on
and raise me high
cos buddy, i'm not
afraid to die
cos life is long
and it's tremendous
and we're glad
that you're here with us
and since we know
an end will come
it makes our living
fun

[death]
death to me
and death to you
tell me what else can we
do die do?
death to all
and death to each
our own God-bottle
s'within reach

death to everyone
is gonna come
and it makes hosing
much more fun

this song is a tough read, as I can see it as anything from post-apocalypse (hosing!) to anyday life. I have to say the lines
every terrible thing / is a relief
even months on end / buried in grief
are easy, light times / which have to end
with the coming / of your death friend
always make me chuckle.

Uhm, no, it doesnt mean masturbation. Nice try though. Read a dictionary.

Hosing: Slang. To attack and kill, typically by use of a firearm.

I love the 'our own god bottle s'within reach' bit. Sort of reminds me of Marx (Religion is the opium of the people), the idea of humanity doing whatever it needs to do to live life despite that death is always approaching. Love the song, but don't listen to it when you are on the down.

oldham said specifically that "hosing" means "having sexual intercourse"

so it's a happy song. :)

urbandictionary.com calls hosing
"verb: the act of fornication with no regard for the pleasure of the recipient. Usually accompanied by alcohol (see Jack Daniels hosing) and characterized by frenetic intensity."

and whether this is just a joke slang or not, i think it could fit well with the idea of having sex that's frenzied and intense because of how fleeting life is.

I have to say, there is a slang. i and people i knew in my younger days, for hosing; which simply meant to give a snappy or crippling joke on someone (usually a friend)...."you were totally hosed!" I just think that oldham's simplicity is his gift. While he is obviously well read( i.e. Heidegger, it was true what one poster wrote about the dif. between dread and fear), it does not mean he has much hidden in hopes of allusion or inference. I think. it would lead to a more simple everyday joy in life being praised. I think.
