Hail to the light,
That my baby's watchin' me
In the darkness of the window,
I can hardly get to sleep
Wish for the hour,
That the night time soon shall pass
And the moon do bring us,
To a day our souls can last

[Chorus]
Love has a reason,
There's a meaning to the world
We're giving love (yeah)

Situation: candle light,
Enough to see the bits around you,
But its never very bright
Stare at a memory,
You through the grapevine
Heard the truth
It's good to learn from your mistakes,

But that only works in youth

[Chorus]

Giving love
Giving love
Giving love

Restless minds,
Curtain calls, follow fanfares
Troubled hearts,
Just a walk down the hall
Restless hearts take a punch,
Just to lift one
Troubled minds,
It's only fair after all
Mountin' the trail,
Nut you got it in sight
Sometimes our only way is jumpin'
I hope your not afraid of heights
Reach in my pocket,
For a bill that isn't there,
To face all of the un-doings,
Is to visit more than I can bare

[Chorus]

Giving love
Giving love
Giving love
It's always been good to me [Repeats]
Love has a reason,
There's a meaning to the world
We're giving love

My Interpretation:Before coming here I thought the chorus said "We're given love." I sort of prefer that. The "givin' love" version has a direct object (love) without the expected indirect object (to whom the love is given), and therefore feels incomplete.

My Opinion:Oh, and I totally like the stripped version better. For me, it brings out the beauty of the lyrics of the song!

General Comment:FANTASTIC. This song is my theme song. The meaning to the world is LOVE!

    My two favorite parts:

"Restless minds; curtain calls follow fanfares
Troubled hearts; just a walk down the hall
Restless hearts; you take a punch just to land one
Troubled minds; it's only fair after all" - I love the creative use of words here!

    "Situation candlelight
Enough to see the bits around you
But it's never very bright" - I love the poetic way this is put, and it's so true. Sometimes we get only a little bit of the details and think we know everything, but we don't.

General Comment:I sent this song to a beloved friend who said that "in the end everything is meaningless" - this is my answer to him - love...

The acoustic version give me shivers, and I relive my love for my friend...

General Comment:I never realized how beautiful this song is until I listened to the stripped version. I agree with abbelito, I hate how he became a pop icon, because he is really something special.
