So let me take this medicine
To quench my love for violent things
My swan song will
Be like a bullet laced in anger
As the razor cuts the soft spot on your heel

(It's back) It's getting slower
(This war) It's getting harder
To fight by myself
(This place) A bitter fashion
(Ripped out) This shield that I have
Tears rain from above

Do you see the life I lead?

So, follow me into the sun
And I will bleed the poision dry

These bayonet scars never seize
To blind the light shed from the beast
And all we do is hate

(Passion) From constant visions
(Angels) A round of useless
Good has lost its heart

Do you see the life I lead?

So, follow me into the sun
And I will bleed the poison dry

For you
For you
(For you!)
(For you!)
(For you!)

Bite to break skin
Don't give the secret
My stoic face
Bleeding with passion
The Phoenix will die
Inside the firestorm
I am the son
Follow my footsteps.

Bite to break skin
Don't give the secret
My stoic face
Bleeding with passion
The Phoenix will die
Inside the firestorm
I am the son
Follow my footsteps.

My Interpretation:My view on this song, and from my past experiences is he is singing about feeling like all is lost and he just wants to give up "As the razor cuts the soft side of your heel", the heel is a very easy spot to cut and bleed out from. I think he's singing in 3rd person because this happens to so many people everyday, suicide, depression, loss of hope. Apart of the song I think he's trying to ask for all the help he can, be it people, or a higher power "tears rain from above" as in all there is to do is cry for him. This song, to me, is all about lost cause, and trying to find a reason to live.

General Comment:May I point out that senses fail is NOT a religious specified band. Though there are references to God, I feel this song has a more deeper personal meaning to the subject than God. It is the hardships of one trying to handle a heroin addiction. The first verse, is explaining how it feels to take the drug. The pain, feeling, etc. The 2nd part explains (in order) his body's reaction to the drug. How much harder his addiction is getting. The harshness to the drug. And his family's reaction.

"So let me take this medicine
to quench my love for violent things.
    My swan song will
be like a bullet laced in anger
as the razor cuts the soft spot on your heel.
(each breath) is getting getting slower
(this war) is getting harder, to fight by myself
    (sick waves) of bitter fashion
(rip down) the shield that I have tears rain from above"

The chorus, "do you see the life i lead" is pretty self-explainitory. "So follow me into the sun" is his future death. "And I will bleed the poisons dry" is withdraw.

The 2nd verse, simply describing unsuccessful attempts of suicide by slashing of the wrists and how we as people judge others for such scars. 2nd part (in order), during the "high", the visions one sees. The person's calling for help is useless. The lifelessness and hopelessness of the individual.

    "These bayonet scars never cease
to blind the light shed from the beast
and all we do is hate.
    (Eyes shot) from constant visions.
    (Angels) are rendered useless.
    Good has lost it's heart."

The ending, in meaning, would be, 'the pinch of a needle, don't give my secret, my desire to free myself, shot down with addiction, my life will end, due to my addiction, Jesus (I am) is the son of God, follow his (my) footsteps into heaven.

    "Bite to break skin.
    Don't give the secret.
    My stoic face,
    beaten with passion.
    The Phoenix will die
    inside the firestorm.
    I am the son.
    Follow my footsteps."

DO NOT FORGET poems/songs can have multiple meanings seen by others opinions. This is my opinion of what the song means. What's yours?

My Interpretation:This song is such a great song on a bad day. It has that couple syllables of screaming in the verses and a screaming-bloody-murder-coda. It sounds to me like a person who feels themselves dying emotionally or physically asking God or something/someone of that nature to stay with them.

(this war) is getting harder, to fight by myself
    (sick waves) of bitter fashion
(rip down) the shield that I have tears rain from above

Here he talks about his life.

Do you see the life I lead?

Here he talks to god telling Him he is having a tough time

So follow me into the sun
and I will bleed the poision dry.

His answer is to follow Him

General Comment:buddy repeats...."do you see the life I lead"
this song is definately about struggling to see the truth in faith. and that is all.
the last part...the first time he screams it it is meaning Jesus, the second time is meaning himself. basically the whole song is compairing himself to Christ and he wonders why two people who lead such different lives could have such similar views. i'm out

    General Comment:"The Phoenix will die
inside the firestorm." awesome lyrics, but its also kind of contradictory
because the phoenix can't die, it simply is reborn from its own ashes ( if you go along with the mythical idea of the phoenix) i love senses fail.

My Interpretation:I cant help but think this song has to do with discrimination against social groups; probably revolved around the emo or punk scene I would assume
