Numb and broken here I stand alone
Wondering what were the last words I said to you
Hoping, praying that I'll find a way to turn back time
Can I turn back time???

What would I give to behold
The smile
The face of love
You've never left me
The rising sun
Will always speak your name

Numb and broken here I stand alone
Wondering what were the last words I said to you

It won't be long, we'll meet again

What would I give to behold
The smile
The face of love
You've never left me
The rising sun
Will always speak your name

It won't be long, we'll meet again
Your memory is never passing
It won't be long, we'll meet again
My love for you is everlasting

I mourn for those who never knew you
I mourn for those who never knew you
(I mourn for those who never knew you)
Who never knew you!

It won't be long, we'll meet again
Your memory is never passing
It won't be long, we'll meet again
My love for you is everlasting

It won't be long, we'll meet again
It won't be long, we'll meet again
It won't be long, we'll meet again
It won't be long, we'll meet again

General Comment:I think it depends on how you interpret the meaning of the song. Rose of Sharyn could be dedicated to Howard's mother or grandmother or if you want to add a Christian thought to the song, it could also refer to Christ.

Nevertheless, this is a great song! It's full of emotion and power.

General Comment:maybe all of this just ties together. I mean, what if the lyrics are directed toward two people? A lost loved one and Jesus. A loved one that was a believer and known to be going to heaven? So now they're going back to God or something (gaining faith back, rather) because they angry about loosing the friend but now they understand that it was for a purpose, therefore the meaning of 'The smile, the face of love You never left me'. Maybe? I'm not completely sure. But that's what I'm getting from it =] Peace, love, robots.

General Comment:I've heard that this song could be from the perspective from a disciple after Jesus was crucified. It makes sense. I mean, the Rose of Sharyn is a name given to Jesus in the Bible. When you apply the lyrics to this meaning I believe it makes the most sense out of any other explanation. True, it could be a loved one, but why would the title be Rose of Sharyn? a Biblical name.

General Comment:i think this song is about Jesus because if u read in song of solomon 2:1 ''I am the rose of sharon and the lily of the fields'' and notice in the song he sings ''I morn for those who never knew you'' thats just my opinion.... make sure to read Romans-ten9 & 10:13 read, believe and you will be saved!

General Comment:To clear things up once and for all, this song was written about Howard's deceased grandmother. The name of the song is a play on 'rose of Sharon', which is a family of highly-valued flowers with biblical origins.

General Comment:Yeah according to the Wikipedia stuff, nothing about Jesus being called Rose of Sharon; but I have not read the bible so personally I wouldn't know. However, I'm sick of people assuming songs are about "Jesus" or a "she" because this says nothing whatsoever about either. It's quite obvious that "Rose of Sharon" is used quite commonly in poetry and verse, and overall this song is very vague: all they really imply is the loss or being apart from a loved one. There is no death, woman, or Jesus implied. It's a very simple song.

My Opinion:Hawaiianpride70: You've obviously never seen them live to hear their between-song banter. No Christian band would talk like that. However, I agree with bluwlf_8503. I wouldn't think any less of them if this WERE a religious song. They're an awesome band and this is a powerful song. Just my $0.02.

General Comment:Yes this song is about a loved one of Howard Jones everyone but it is about his mother. I guess he had a fight with her and then she died and he never got to say sorry. Thats why he wishes he could turn back time and change it all back to the way he wants it. Then one day he will die and see her again.
