Lyrics for I'm Lost Without You as interpreted by BrandNew1208

I'm Lost Without You Lyrics
I swear that I can go on forever again
Please let me know that my one bad day will end
I will go down as your lover, your friend
Give me your lips and with one kiss we begin
Are you afraid of being alone
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of leaving tonight
Cause I am, I'm lost without you

I'll leave my room open till sunrise for you
I'll keep my eyes patiently focused on you
Where are you now I can hear footsteps I'm dreaming
And if you will, keep me from waking to believe this

Are you afraid of being alone
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of leaving tonight
Cause I am, I'm lost without you

Are you afraid of being alone
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of leaving tonight
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of being alone
Cause I am, I'm lost without you
Are you afraid of leaving tonight
Cause I am, I'm lost without you

I'm lost without you
I'm lost without you

This is just a love song. I don't think there is a big secret meaning. It is just a simple love song, and those are usually the best.
The introduction of the song starts off with some wierd sound effects and echoing, with I think sets the mood of the song. Distance... silence... calmness. The piano is gentle and sweet, adding to the already set atmopsphere.
When Tom starts singing, it sounds perfect, because the reverb has given him a "can you hear me?" feel... perfect for the song. The choice of having no drums for this first verse makes it calm and sincere. As the song progresses, the bass comes in patiently, and leads into a surprisingly loud and jaggy chorus, with drums.
The second verse is much like the first, except the drums and bass are added. Due to their chugging style though, it keeps the song in the same feel. Perfect. There is a calm pause in the middle of the song where a soothing piano piece is played, and then we are kicked back into the loud chorus with repeats the hook of the song until the end. For a long time. About 3 minutes! A surprise ending is the frantically rolling drums that last for about 40 seconds.
The entire song is soaked in reverb and distortion, which perfectly fits the "dreamy" like feel of the song that was set in the first place with the effect. It ends the song too, because after the drum solo we hear some quiet feedback until the end of the track.
The lyrics are sweet, and almost begging the other person to care for the him because he needs her. He is... lost... without her.
Sorry if my review is kind of long, but thats what I like doing. I love this song and it means alot to me.

Goodbye.

This song is incredible.. especially the drum parts (sorry, I'm a drummer). I love how Travis is using 2 drum sets at the end.. I can't wait to see how they perform this live. Anyway.. it's a great song to listen to when you're just thinking.

This song just scares me. Blink have always written songs teenagers relate to and I didn't think they could ever be serious or mature. Now it seems they can. If a band that named an album 'Take Off Your Pants and Jacket' could actually grow up, where does that leave the rest of us?

this song is about all three of their wives and how they would be lost without them, travis's wife has just given birth and how content they all are in love.i think its so sweet, its about time they grew up what they have done could get old too quick so they knew it was time for a change,i love the old stuff but now that they are writing stuff like this it just makes me happy that i can relate as im growing up too.

I don't think it's about a death or a break up. In the first verse he is obviously talking to someone.
When he says "I'm lost without you", it's only because "I would be lost without you" doesn't fit the rhythm. I think the second verse is saying that he feels like he's in a dream and he says "keep me from waking" like he wants her to prove that it's not.

Warning: this is going to be long. I signed up here specifically to give my thoughts this song. ^_^
This is possibly my favorite blink-182 song, and I've been a fan since Dude Ranch came out. On the album insert Tom says this is a song that can only be fully realized when listened to with headphones. I wholeheartedly agree. This is a beautiful song to play even while driving, but there are so many different effect playing harmonically in the background that I could (and I do) listen to it for hours on end on sleepless nights- it's an endless source of writing inspiration. I love what they've done here, turning these honest, straight-from-the-heart lyrics into a powerful song that balances quiet rhythm and hard-hitting choruses. I heard that this song was 6 months in the making, and I believe it. This is something that Pink Floyd would have written. Tom's voice is perfect for this song; the way he sings the choruses is so earnest and heartfelt... Everyone will have a different interpretation of what this song means, but for me it has a specific meaning that I don't know how to describe. There is some kind of chill that runs down my spine whenever I hear the second verse... It's like an intense form of nostalgia. Anyway I never knew they were capable of making an album like this one, and I hope they continue making songs like this, though I doubt I'll ever hear anything like "I'm Lost Without You". jenlovesmusic, I think that the train noise is more of a mood-setting effect than a haunting one. I love how The_Soul describes this song, too. Kudos. I'm gonna get me some mexican food.

Wow, they actually got out of Junior High.

Travis isn't using two drum sets. He double tracked the snare at the end. It's two parts, but one set.

I think if the first line wasn't what he was meaning out of the song, he wouldn't write it. I'd be lost without you fits the rythem just fine, so if he wanted to say that, he would have.

This song...It sums me up. I love it, and it so happens to be me and my girlfriend's song. There's no way this can be about death, this song, though slow and having a 'sad' tempo, is uplifting, and purely poetic. I listen to it whenever i feel lonley, or when i feel down, or when i plain miss my girlfriend. Oh, and the noises on the beginning....I got this CD for my birthday which is in December. Well, my family and I drove to Minnesota from NC to visit family, and i had this CD playing the whole time, and i recall one cold december night at about 12 AM, riding through a small town with lots of snow, and seeing a large Steel Mill that appeared vacant (it wasnt, but because of the night, and snow it looked that way). It had dim lighting inside, and when i hear that single sound at the beginning of this song, i am always, and always WILL think of inside a steel mill on a cold winter night. When YOU hear this song, what comes to your mind? I'd like to know...

Thanks.

Since I first heard this song, I knew it was gonna mean something to me. It's the most moving, uplifting, and inspirational song I have ever heard.
The meaning is simple. The title basically explains the whole thing, pretty much. I percieve it as the perfect love song, or the perfect teenage love song for sure. It's about openly addmitting for the first time that you're actually in love with a person.
"Are you afraid of being alone? 'Cause I am" - When I first heard this line, I was amazed. I still think it's absolutely brilliant. Again, it's openly addmitting that you're litterally afraid to be without the person that means so much to you.
I could say so much more about this song, and go through it line by line, but I think I'll just leave it at that.
