My empty promises
Led to our demise
And I could never tell you
How I really feel
And for that
I eternally apologize

I hope you never forget
The tapping at your window
With the harsh cold and the jealousy
Running through my bones
We were both selfish,
But I think I was more

I would like to thank you,
For showing me
A part of myself
That I have never seen
Yeah, we were young and dumb,
But it still was fun
And I guess these things
Just tend to fall apart
And I hope you feel the same

My empty promises
My empty promises
Brought us to an end
I just hurt you
And I never looked back
Now I have no logic to defend

I hope you never forget
The tapping at your window
With the harsh cold and the jealousy
Running through my bones
We were both selfish,
But I think I was more

I would like to thank you,
For showing me
A part of myself
That I have never seen
Yeah, we were young and dumb,
But it still was fun
And I guess these things
Just tend to fall apart

I would like to thank you,
For showing me
A part of the world
That I have never seen
Yeah, I was young and dumb,
But it still was fun
I'm forever indebted to you
I hope you feel the same

You seem like such a big part
Of my life and my heart
But the truth is
I've found something new
And she easily towers over you

You seem like such a big part
Of my life and my heart
But the truth is
I've found something new
And she easily towers over you

General Comment:This song will forever remind me of my high school boyfriend. When I heard it about 3 years after we broke up, I immediately thought of him. "You seem like such a big part, of my life and my heart." *although, the last line of the song has nothing to do with anything.. because I don't think it fits with the rest of the song.

General Comment:I think the song is very mature. Their relationship is over and they can look back on it rationally and except the mistakes that they made (being selfish) and the good parts of it (finding a different part of themselves and having fun).

General Comment:this song reminds me of myself and i just want to cry every time i hear it.
"i would like to thank you, for showing me a part of myslef that i have never seen"...that part reminds me of the relationship i'm in now. you learn so many new things from people you date and its just amazing.
and then..."we were both selfish but i think i was more" that part also makes me think of my boyfriend becuase we're both so selfish and this just makes me hope that i'm not more..

General Comment:I feel, it is about a past relationship, where he basically took her for granted and moved along, time elapses, he meets someone new, someone who surely surpasses this past relationship, but he looks back, and realizes all that he did wrong, he will forever be indebted to her for everything she taught him.

This relates to a lot of people, because at one point in our existences, we are taken for granted, or take someone else for granted without ever looking back and really thanking them for everything they gave to you, or apologizing for the hurt you caused them & of course the last line "You seemed like such a big part of my life and my heart, but the truth is I found someone new, and she easily towers over you", we make ourselves believe that the person was everything we ever had, we meet someone new, and that someone new is far greater than any expected fantasy we have built in our minds.

General Comment:i take this song as a break- up with someone who really brought you out of a shell or a bad time (I would like to thank you, for showing me
a part of myself that I have never seen) but they had to break up because they just weren't mature enough and told too many lies to each other. Although things went sour the singers trying to tell them not to forget all the things that they did.
