A broad incision sits across the evening
A victim to our fathers lost war
The restless children sit and mourn the graves
Of those they've never seen before
Will they be buried here among the dead?
In the silent secret

The pioneers
In dealing with it they march for dawn, of Will and worthy
The truth be told the child was born

Man your own jackhammer
Man your battle stations
We'll have you dead pretty soon
Sincerely written from my brother's blood machine
Man your own battle station
We'll have you home pretty soon

Awake through motion with curiosity to curtain your first move
Over arm's length they'll break protocol
Jealous envy for the youngest one
To be the hero is all I'll ask
Can I be buried here among the dead?
With room to honor me here in the end
You'll be better off too soon
You'll be better off when you get home

The pioneers
In dealing with it they march for dawn, for Will and worthy
The truth be told the child was born

Man your own jackhammer
Man your battle stations
We'll have you dead pretty soon
Sincerely written from my brother's blood machine
Man your own battle station
We'll have you home pretty soon

For you
I'd do anything
Just to make you happy
Hear you tell me that you're proud of me
For them
I'll kill anything
Cut the throats of babies for them
Break their hearts for they were them
Waiting for you to say
"I love you too"

The navigator
The pilot
Her favorite
The one they call the vision that bears the gift
The navigator
The pilot
Her favorite
The one they call the vision that bears the gift

Will,
Do the children really understand
The things you did to them?
And why, oh why?
Should they conjure up the will?
For you, my love, I would kill him

We're coming home pretty soon
Coming home

In the seventh turning hour
Will the victims shadow fall?
Should the irony grow hungry?
With the victory and all they sought for
We were one among the Fence
One among the Fence

We're coming home

Man your own jackhammer
Man your battle stations
We'll have you dead pretty soon
And now
Sincerely written from my brother's blood machine
Man your battle stations
We'll have you home pretty soon
Tonight

General Comment:Just a few things I want to clear up:

    1) This song is about the first exchange (battle) between Jesse (leader of the resistance) and Mayo (a general for the Red Army, the bad guys).

    2) Jackhammers are ships that Mayo's forces use. I'm pretty sure "Man your own jackhammer" is spoken from Mayo's point of view, and "Man your battlestations" is spoken from Jesse's point of view. That would be why claudio's voice is darker and scarier when he says "man your own jackhammer" as opposed to when he says "man your battlestations."

The "For you, I'd do anything" stanza is Sizer's point of view, because all he wants is Jesse's affection, but Jesse just sees him, Chase, and the other IRO-bots as tools.

The rest should be pretty self explanatory, with most of it from Jesse's point of view from directing the battle and encouraging his troops.

General Comment:This song portrays the remnants of Inferno/Jessie and the late prophet Mariah's resistance force.
Inferno, being Leonard Hoenberger's clone, took the plans for creating IRO-bots and created a group of them, to use as living bio weapons. This was the purpose of IRO-bots given to Hoenberger from the Prise.
Sizor, a direct recreation of Coheed's "Beast" archetype. Offers himself up in exchange for Chase (a recreation of Cambria's Knowledge archetype).
Partially due to love of her and, a desire to prove himself to his "father" Jesse and gain his affection.
    Jackhammers are cannons.
    The "children" are Jessie's IRO-bots.

The "broad incision" is a literal hole in the sky, where the keywork's beam was.

My Interpretation:While I've read on cobaltandcalcium.com that this is supposed to be the "setting of the scene" of their battle and this focuses primarily on Jesse and the subplot of Chase and Sizer, but I've listened to it many times and my own personal interpretation is as follows.

    Take it or leave it.
    It's just an opinion.

Alright, first off, I feel it's primarily from Claudio's view, seeing as he is the only one of the children apparently left alive at the time...and it could be directed at either Newo (his lover) or Coheed and Cambria, his "parents".

It seems to me that he's begging, pleading and almost even willing to fight for a sort of recognition...and acknowledgement..a compliment from either of the two parties mentioned.

He's saying up-front that he will do anything, even kill, just to hear them say their proud of him or tell him that they love him.
He wants to show them the respect they deserve, and show that he's the only one left who remembers them.
(IE: "children sit and mourn the graves of those they've never seen before")
And he wants to -in a way- avenge them and is prepared to do whatever necessary.
But should he fail, he's pleading for a place amongst them in death.

General Comment:From his base on Silent Earth, Jesse is joined by Mariah’s rebel army and his group of IRO-bots, The Pioneers, as they prepare for war against the URA. Jesse is commanding his soldiers, “man your battle stations,” as one of The Pioneers, Sizer, begins to feel envious of Jesse’s affection for Chase, another young IRO-bot Jesse created. As the URA plans to abduct one of The Pioneers for information on Jesse’s rebellion, Sizer contemplates the ways he could win Jesse’s attention.

General Comment:Holy shit. I get chills everytime I hear the final chant at the end of the song. Travis was right in saying that this epic song is their anthem.

General Comment:The one that they call the vision that bears the gift is Chase who in "Cuts That Marked the March of Men" Jesse trades himself for to be held captive by Wilhelm Ryan and the Red Army.

General Comment:Mmmkay, I think I actually know what's going on here...

This song is done from two different perspectives: Jesse, The Inferno, and Sizer, his IRO-bot son.
This song is basically Jesse preparing for battle against Wilhem Ryan's righthand man and war guy (for lack of a better term) Mayo Deftinwolf. Jesse and his 4 IRO-bot children, known as the pioneers, are getting ready for the battle and are using weapons known as jackhammers, which Jesse created. The children are Sizer, "...her favorite...", Chase, "...the one they call the vision who bares the gift..." She has the mind of a 20 year-old woman, but is trapped in the body of a 4 year-old girl. She is the only character who can comminucate with the writer. She is also the strongest of all of the pioneers. The other children are Michael, "...the pilot..." named after Michael Todd of the band, and Travis, "...the navigator..." named after Travis Stever of the band.

So, now with all these knowledge, Chase is clearly Jesse's favorite, being the strongest fighter and the least likely to be suspected, due to her weak and innocent appearance. Sizer, however, being a deformed IRO-bot, is extremely jealous of Chase's relationship with Jesse, "...Jealous envy for the youngest one
To be the hero is all I'll ask
Can I be buried here among the dead?
With room to honor me here in the end
You'll be better off too soon
You'll be better off when you get home..."
All he wants is to be loved and respected by his father. After 7 hours of preparing, the Red Army is finally approaching in the distant, and the battle will soon begin...!

A good description of the best song ever, I feel.

General Comment:All you need to do is remember that in some songs there are more than one character being percieved therefore think who would say what line and you'll get it a bit better. Took me a while to realise that. lol.
