Lyrics for Crests Of Waves as interpreted by DMZ

Crests Of Waves Lyrics
It could be worse
I could be alone
I could be locked in here on my own
Like a stone that suddenly drops
It never stops, no

I could be lost
Or I could be saved
Calling out from beneath the waves
Beaten down by this ocean rain
Never again
Never again

Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh

Screaming out from the crests of waves

It could be worse
But its all sweet
It could be snapped from the jaws of defeat
Like a light lit upon a beach
Wear your heart on your sleeve
Oh

You want to stop before you begin
You want to sink when you know you could swim
You want to stop just before you begin
Never give in
Never give in

Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh

Screaming out from the crests of waves

Nothing matters
Except life and the love you make
Nothing matters
Except life and the love you make
Nothing matters
Except life and the love you make
Except life and the love you make

Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh

Screaming out from the crests of waves

Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh
Ohhh, Ohhhhhhhhh, Ohhhhhhhhh

Screaming out from the crests of waves
Where your longing to be saved
Screaming out from the crests of waves
Where your longing to be saved
Screaming out from the crests of waves

Let me correct a few lines

Beaten down by the "ocean rain"
is actually:
Beaten down by the social raves

Where you're (bad grammar by the way DMZ) longing to be saved
is actually:
For so long I seem to say

Is anybody gonna correct these?

well, just look around on a search engine and you'll find different versions of the lyrics, where different words vary, and as for my grammar I don't think you can analyze my grammar from a few sentences, and its ocean rain not social raves.

I agree with DMZ. And from what I hear, it's 'longing to be saved', which is more correct if you look at the context of the song. (It's quite obvious to me that he sings that, but okay.)
In my opinion it's a nice Coldplay song, a bit too repeating but what the hell. The meaning however isn't entirely clear to me, I suppose it's more about the message than the actual words.

it is a bit repetitive, but for what it's worth, I like the syncopated guitaring in the part when he goes "oooh". I love that.

This song is great. I think it's sort of their new style, along with Clocks. Really nice, particularly the way he sings the verses, and the syncopated bit is fantastic. Obviously it doesn't beat Clocks but one of my favourites from Coldplay!!

I think this song is a life reminder. A good one, too.

oh dear!! the correct lyrics are as stated... there is nothing wrong with these lyrics as written up by DMZ... back to the song.. I always felt this song was a metaphor for life. Its obvious that Chris Martin was inspired by his love for surfing.. it even has that surf feel to it.. the guitars, the 'ooohhh ohhhh' in the song.. great tune.

Why wasn't this song released as a single?? What were they thinking?? They could have at least put it on X&Y.

As for the lyrics, i think it is about uncertainty...and to keep his cool he reminds himself that "nothing matters except life and the love you make"

I believe it was releashed as a B side or something. Nonetheless, it is one of my favorite coldplay songs. I just love the chords.

It's "Bitter or sweet" not "But it's all sweet"

hmmm to i think this means something like, never give in and never let anyone else force you to give in or quit. it's trying to tell you that there are very yet very important things in life and nothing needs to get in the way of them...

in the beginning however it talks about how things good be worse, this song teaches you to look at the brighter side of things.

I think the perfect book to this movie is tuesdays with morrie. It fits it amazingly. I'm doing an intereptive dance to this song for the book for my college class.. I have never heard of it before this.

it is a nice song. it has a very rocky feel. i think annabella is right. it seems like it's 'bout life. or he's in trouble (again!)
