Some people live for the fortune
Some people live just for the fame
Some people live for the power
Some people live just to play the game

Some people think that the physical things define what's within
And I have been there before, and that life's a bore
So full of the superficial

Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you

Some people search for a fountain
That promises forever young
Some people need three dozen roses
And that's the only way to prove you love them

Hand me the world on a silver platter
And what good would it be
With no one to share, with no one who truly cares for me

Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you

Some people want it all
But I don't want nothing at all
If it ain't you baby
If I ain't got you baby
Some people want diamond rings
Some just want everything
But everything means nothing
If I ain't got you

If I ain't got you with me baby
Nothing in this whole wide world don't mean a thing
If I ain't got you with me baby

General Comment:I find this song a little hypocritical.
In “If I aint got you” she says stuff like “Some people need three dozen roses
And that's the only way to prove you love them” and “some people want diamond rings, but I don’t” , but here it is “you can give me diamonds and pearls, I am worth it”.

General Comment:This song really sums up my feels about love, that you dont need "stuff" to make a relationship, you just need to want to be together.

General Comment:I think alicia put her personal experiences as a celebrity into her true feelings of "whats inside". she leads a very luxurious life, but shes still a person and i think she is trying to say she values love and present life than worrying about looks, luxuries, the past, or the future.

General Comment:Its about being in love and not caring about material things or anything like that because all she needs is her lover. And how you could have everything in the world yet still be unhappy without that one special person. It is the most romantic meaningful song ever.

General Comment:It's about loving someone, and with them nothing else matters. And she just wants love, nothing else. No diamonds, no flowers, just love.
