I could walk this fine line between elation and success
But we all know which way I'm going
So strike the stake between my chest
Well "You have to prove yourself"
You'll have to prove it to me

So now you're waiting up for him
You're wasting time every time

I can't do it by myself

I can't wake up to these reminders of who I am:
A failure at everything
18 going on extinct
I know my place
It's nowhere you should roam

Elation is when you're like, really happy about something. Success is merely when you've succeeded in something. But, being successful is not the same thing as being happy/elated. Hence, the "fine line between elation and success".
And by "we all know which way I'm going, so strike the stake between my chest", I think he means that since FOB's debut was pretty successful, and they're only going to get more popular (which is what happened), they're going to be "successful" rather than "elated." "So strike the stake between my chest."

General Comment:my current ex said I treated her like shit while it was the other way around. nonetheless, I love her and am attempting to do anything I have to for love. I'm tempted to send her these lyrics...

General Comment:this song has a tiny little bit of chicago hardxcore in it.

i can hear it. the beginning, drum beat, gang vocals, violently sung lyrics.

    i like it, mane.

General Comment:I love this song, I can really relate to it. Having a lot at stake and being so close to success but with failure threatening you. I love the bit at the end after the song finishes where Pete (I think) goes into the: "You have to prove yourself" back up vocal bit again and everyone starts laughing. I dunno why, makes it more real. ^^ Awesome song.

He could almost be talking about waiting for the inner him to emerge... if you catch my drift?

General Comment:At first I heard the lyrics as "waiting up for head"...kinda changes the whole meaning of the song when you hear that. "Can't do it by myself" :-)
