Come on Balthazaa I refuse to let you die
Come on fallen star I refuse to let you die
'Cause that's wrong and I've been waiting far too long
It's wrong I've been waiting far too long
For you to be, be me, be, be mine
For you to be mine be mine for you to be mine
And it's wrong, I've been waiting far too long
It's wrong, I've been waiting far too long
For you to be, be me, be

All the centrefolds that you can't afford
Have long since waved their last goodbyes
All the centrefolds that you can't afford
You've long since faded from their eyes
So be, be mine

General Comment:Oh judges from sources such as angelfire.com/ne2/placebo/…
Balthazar is one of the three wisemen which leads me to believe the song has more to do with getting lost in materialist things rather than dealing with death or physical abuse.

General Comment:he wants the person he loves to love him and not those that dont want that person anymore.
that itself is sad because although the person may succumb to the speaker, the speaker will always be the second choice.
he's degrading himself just to achieve the 'love' or attention of someone that doesn't care about him.

General Comment:it's about people who gave too much of themselves; they get used until they die.

General Comment:I think this song is about love) Again and of course.
She's to ambitious but always gets disasters.
And he says: Calm dawn, I love you and to me it doesn't matter how successful you are in "things which aren't love".

    A bit childish.

General Comment:Brian: "Someone telling a washed-up celebrity “I’m the best you can get now so you’d better be mine.” It’s about obsession, questions of status and self-degradation"

General Comment:I think that all of the words are suposed to relate with love, the love that he got and the loved person, like "Come on Balthazar, i refuse to let you die" is refering to balthazar from the most romantic history of all, Romeo and Juliet, wheres Balthazar is a friend of romeo like a household that do everything for him, and is like his love, his love that is dieing, is falling like a falling star, the relationship is going bad and he like a Balthazar do anything for his love, he have been waiting far too long for that love and don't wanna lose it. "All the centrefolds, that you can't afford, have long since waved their last goodbye, so be mine" he is saying that all the fame (and all the luxury and the life style that it brings) doesn't matter anymore for him, "waved their last goodbye", and now he want to be with her or him, and he will keep waiting and fighting to keep his love. (Probably a cheated relationship waiting for forgiveness... been there, done that.... lost the love of my life... sad but true).

General Comment:Balthazar was another name for Lucifer after he fell from heaven. Lucifer means star. Hence, "Fallen Star".

General Comment:I always imagine someone singing this song to someone they love and who has just tried to kill themselves . Finding them on the floor ( Fallen star ) and telling them they're not going to let them die because they love them so much and have be waiting so long for them to love them back . Anyway , just my vision of Centrefolds .

General Comment:Not that this means anything, I know it's probabably irrelevant, but one of the three wise men was called Balthazar, which would also give a new dimension to the 'fallen star' line following - perhaps a reference to lost faith in Jesus/religion. I don't pretend to know too much about Placebo songs, I try to appreciate the lyrics but with the ambiguity they could mean a number of different things. They are beautiful because they can mean different things to different people.

General Comment:This song is about people who are so obsessed with celebrity and becoming celebrities that it makes them sick. Celebrity worship becomes this crippling, diagnosable mental illness where it's the only way for people to feel like their lives are worth anything.

    "It's wrong
I've been waiting far too long
    For you to
    be me
    be mine"

Here is the perfect example, where the individual feels wronged that they haven't achieved that level of conceived 'importance' or fame... instead, they admire the red carpet, wish their spot could be on there, wish that celebrity status could be theirs, and that celebrities could be theirs.
