Since were feeling so anesthetized
In our comfort zone
Reminds me of the second time
That I followed you home
We're running out of alibi's
On the second of may
Reminds me of the summertime
On this winters day

See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end

Every step we took that synchronized
Every broken bone
Reminds me of the second time
That I followed you home
You showered me with lullabies
Had you walking away
Reminds me that its killing time
On this fateful day

See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end

From the time we intercepted
Feels a lot like suicide
Slow and sad, getting sadder
Arise a sitting mine
See you at the bitter end

I love to see you run around
And i can see you now
Running to me
Arms wide out
See you at the bitter end
Reach inside
Come on just gotta reach inside
Heard your cry
Six months time
Six months time
Prepare the end
See you at the bitter end

General Comment:Okay, so I took in ideas from the main lyrics (rjbucs28) as well as Kustard1337 and sing365 (via ConceitedStu). I added a couple of additions and changes to grammar (apostrophes now correct!) After lots of listening, I think I'm close to cracking it.

    ______________________________________________

    Since we're feeling so anesthetised
    In our comfort zone
Reminds me of the second time
    That I followed you home
    We're running out of alibi
    On the second of May
Reminds me of the summer time
    On this winter's day

See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end

Every step we take that synchronised
    Every broken bone
Reminds me of the second time
    That I followed you home
    You shower me with lullaby
    As you're walking away
Reminds me that it's killing time
    On this fateful day

See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end

See you at the bitter end
See you at the bitter end
    Everytime we're intercepted
    Feels 'lot like suicide
Slow and sad, come in silence
(See you at the bitter end)
    I walked a bitter mile
Love to see you runnin' round
    Wanna stick ya now
    Wannabe, arms wide out
(See you at the bitter end)

    Reach inside
Come on, just try and reach inside
    Heard a cry
    Six months' time
In six months' time, prepare the end
See you at the bitter end!

General Comment:After reading this it DOES go hand-in-hand with 1984 (see page 2 of comments here), but I also thought...
I think it is about 2 people being in the wrong place at the wrong time. One may be in a relationship or married." Since were feeling so anesthetized In our comfort zone", the voice and the one he singing to is SO hurt, so ripped up that they are not even feeling pain anymore, perhaps because of the situation. "You showered me with lullabies" perhaps saying/hoping it is going to be okay, but it is not and she is walking away from him, away from that "fateful" day when something that wasn't supposed to happen happened, or they came to realization that there was no hope for them. The bitter end I think signifies when the shit is going to hit the fan, they have both suffered so much, this could be metaphorically when her relationship ends and frees her up to be with him "in 6 months time" at which point he is so destroyed it will be too late--it feels like suicide it is THAT sad. The guitar riffs on this are amazing.

Lyric Correction:"From the time we intercepted
    Feels a lot like suicide
Slow and sad, grown inside us
    Arouse and see you're mine
(See you at the bitter end)

    Love has seen your run-around
    Who wanna seek you now?
    I want a peace
    I'd whine out
(See you at the bitter end)

    Love's reached his side
    Grab this gentleness inside
    Heard a cry
    Six feet down
    In six weeks' time
    The mess you left
    Will end
See you at the bitter end"

lyrics at the end of the song.

My Interpretation:I think this song talks about the same as many other Placebo's songs do, breaking up. When you finish a relationship, is always a bad thing, at least for one of the couple. And also you're couple is breaking up with you, you feel so bad, so desperate (the bitter end).

Being more specific, my opinion is that this song talks about when you're in a really suffocating relationship, but you don't want to let it go because is like a drug for you. The beginning was so good ("since we're feeling so anesthetised in our comfort zone"- anesthetised: feeling no pain), you don't want to leave her in any moment ("that i followed you home")... But you know that will be over soon or late (we're running out of alibis from the second of may"- there's always something that triggers the ending), so you want to squeeze the relationship until it's over, because you don't want to resign to lose her though you know you will.

Despite good things ("you shower me with lullabies") and bad ones ("as you're walking away"), you want to be next to her and huge her for the last time on the bitter end ("running to me, arms wide out, come and reach inside, grab the gentleness inside).

General Comment:So, this is what I got (with some help from other postings) for the ending lyrics:

    From the time we intercepted
    Feels a lot like suicide
Slow and sad, come in silence
(See you at the bitter end)
    I walked a bitter mile

    Lovers seem to run around
    What is sicker now?
    Wannabes, arms wide out
(See you at the bitter end)

    Come on and reach inside
    Grab the gentleness inside

Heard a cry; six months' time
(See you at the bitter end)
    In six months' time
The mess you left will end

Whether they're right or not, I don't know. At this point, I think only Brian Molko can decipher what is being sung.

General Comment:It's about a relationship that's over. And he is stalking his ex. Then there are two possibilities: "reminds me that it's killing time", might refer to him killing them both, or to just killing himself.

General Comment:I'm thinking it's more like an affair... these people keep seeing each other, but they know that eventually they'll have to stop. "We're running out of alibis" maybe refers to the idea that they know they'll gat caught soon.

General Comment:for me this kinds resembles a relation ship im in or a romeo and juliet situation . my situation is that my girlfriend is depressed and suicidal and feeling anesthetized is like not wanting to feel or not feeling anything wich is both of us then following her home making sure shes okay. running out of alibis is like feeling alone theres no one to take your side or watch out for you. reminds me of the summer time on this winter day, remembering the times when it was easier and it we were hapier. every step we take thats synchronized every broken bone, how when one of us feels bad we both do how we both share our pain. "shower me with lulabies as your walking away" how she assures me shes okay but she drifts further apart. "reminds me that its killing time on this fateful day" like how it feels like im running out of time with her. and from the time we intercepted part, i knew it wasnt gona be easy from the start and feels more like sucide
and "see her at the bitter end" is well her commiting suicide. and it also reminds me of romeo nd juliet also i think its fitting that the song after it is somthing rotten idk just thought id chuck in my opinoin or what it means to me
