(Give me your hand,
Blood is spilt and man will follow
Infernal man, punishment too great to bear)
Conceived and born was one of light
Rain and dark, the other born black night

Raise your head and taste the courage
(The one of light)
Fall from grace, unholy night
I've come here to kill you,
Won't leave until you've died
Murder born of vengeance,
I closed my brothers eyes tonight

It's cold tonight as the clouds turn gray
And from my hands to my brothers grave
You took his side, you took his gift,
Feel the power of a fallen man, crestfallen man

Far away in this land I must go,
Out of the site of the One.
A punishment sent from his hand
A hardship no one should know
Now go out of the site of the One,
Away in this land you must go.

Where has he gone? What have you done?
A voice commands from high above this earth.
From the soil his blood cries out to me
Murder, liar, vengeance, deceit

General Comment:I think it talks about Cain and Abel from Genesis chapter four.

Genesis 4:2 "Later she gave birth to his brother Abel."
Conceived and born was one of light

Genesis 4:1 "Adam[a] made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain."
Rain and dark, the other born black night

Genesis 4:10 "The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”

Where has he gone? What have you done?
A voice commands from high above this earth.
From the soil his blood cries out to me
    Murder, liar, vengeance, deceit.

I could have thrown in so much more comparison but ive decided not to :)

General Comment:Probably one of the realest songs this band has ever produced!!! Its about Chapter 4 of the book of Genesis. Amazing song, very very deep.. very dark.. very very well written.

Where has he gone? What have you done?
A voice commands from high above this earth.
From the soil his blood cries out to me
    Murder, liar, vengeance, deceit.

Damn enough said. Also, the bands name comes out of the book Genesis.. hmm interesting.
Don't debate religion here, take that somewhere else. The bible obviously inspires good music, enough said.

    Murder! Liar! vengeance! Deceit!

I'm sure those are the correct lyrics. I've listened to this song so much.

    Meaning:

    From Genesis, Chapter Four:

Reference: 'And Adam knew Eve his wife, who had conceived and brought forth Cain, saying: I have gotten a man through God, and again she brought forth his brother Abel.'

Relevance to song: The lyrics 'Conceived, and born was one of light', Referring to Abel, as Eve had given birth to a man she had conceived through God (Symbolizsing the Light).

Reference: 'And Cain said to Abel his brother: 'Let us go forth abroad'. And when they were in the field, Cain rose against his brother and slew him.' (Cain had slain Abel because God respected Abel's offerings but not Cain's)

Relevance to song: The lyrics 'Far away of this land I must go, out of the sight of the One' refers to Cain leading Abel from the sight of God, so that he may slay Abel.

Reference: 'And the Lord said to Cain, 'Where is thy brother Abel? ... What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood crieth to me from the Earth. Now therefore cursed shalt thou be upon the Earth ... When thou shalt till it, it shall not heed it's fruits. A fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be upon the Earth.'

'And Cain said to the Lord: My iniquity is greater than that I may deserve pardon. ... and I shall be a vagabond and a fugitive on the earth: every one therefore that findeth me, shall kill me.'

'And the Lord said to him: No, it shall not so be: but whosoever shall kill Cain, shall be punished sevenfold.'

Relevance to song: The lyrics 'Where has he gone, what have you done'.. well you can pretty much see what it's related to. God then makes it so that Cain is unable to gather from earth's riches, and is bound to Earth, even after death.'

Cain responds that he is unable to cope with this punishment, reflecting the lyrics 'Punishment to great to bare.' Cain begins to fear his brothers and nephews, but God says that he need not worry, for he shall make it that noone will kill him. And that anyone that dare harm him, will be punished sevenfold (Giving birth to the band name, punished sevenfold = Avenged Sevenfold).

So, that is basically the story behind this song. I hope you find it useful....... If it's even got an application.

My Opinion:I started listening A7X since 5 days, I've listened Waking and City Of Evil... Waking The Fallen is Incredible.

    This part:

Raise your head and taste the courage
    (The one of light)
    Fall from grace, unholy night
I've come here to kill you,
    won't leave until you've died
    Murder born of vengeance,
I closed my brothers eyes tonight...

Make me wanna fight and kill someone...really.

General Comment:I'm really only a fan of A7X's lastest two CDs; I don't mind screaming in songs, as long as its only part of the song. When the song's entirely screaming, I don't like it. But this song is freakin' awesome. It's not all screaming, so that's good. It's a song about Cain and Abel, from Genesis Chapter Four.
